The upcoming Cowboy Bebop comic based on the Netflix live-action series will receive a variety of covers for its first issue.
Featuring works from the likes of Stanley "Artgerm" Lau, Claudia Ianniciello, Afu Chan, and Yishan Li, the covers for Titan Comics' Cowboy Bebop #1 paint the Bebop crew in a variety of different styles, ranging from relatively realistic to stylized. One of the covers also utilizes an official image for the upcoming Netflix series, showing John Cho's Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pinada's Faye Valentine and Mustafa Shakir's Jet Black lounging on a couch.
The Cowboy Bebop comic focuses on Spike, Faye and Jet chasing a gang member who owns a vest that supposedly grants the wearer infinite luck. To accompany the four-issue series, Titan is also publishing a prequel novel due in November entitled A Syndicate Story: Red Planet Requiem, as well as the coffee table book Cowboy Bebop: Making the Netflix Series in 2022. The prequel details the relationship between Spike Spiegel and his old Mars crime syndicate rival, Vicious, while the behind-the-scenes book features a foreword by showrunner André Nemec and dives into the transition from anime to Netflix franchise.
Titan Publishing's Cowboy Bebop, written by Dan Watters with art by Lamar Mathurin, is the first American comic adapting the jazzy spacefaring adventures of Spike and his friends. The four-issue series releases on Dec. 8, with a trade paperback expected in May 2022.
The Netflix adaptation of Cowboy Bebop hits screens on Nov. 19.
