Paramount's A Quiet Place engrossed audiences with its use of silence to tell a thrilling story, and now Netflix is hoping to recapture that film's success with Bird Box, its own apocalyptic tale that takes sight away from its characters.

In an interesting twist, though, Bird Box begins before the world essentially ended. We get to see the events that led to humanity fighting for its survival. Even more intriguing is the fact that the monsters in this film seem to bring our worst fears to life. The first official trailer for the Netflix original can be viewed below, as well as the first poster, which sees Bullock's character cradling her children.

While the folks in A Quiet Place need to remain as quiet as possible in order to avoid a certain death, Bird Box's characters must seek safety without being able to see. The tagline promises, "if you see it, you take your life." Facing the unknown, Malorie (Bullock) finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to completely unravel. In order to protect her children, Malorie must flee with both kids down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. Unfortunately, the task is only completed by the fact that the trio will need to undertake the terrifying two-day journey all while blindfolded.
