WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Behind Her Eyes, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's Behind Her Eyes is a very mind-bending story about astral projection, as it details David and his wife, Adele, in a very controlled, strange life. As David rolls out an affair with his secretary, Louise, audiences discover Adele's not even his wife. Her best friend, Rob, projected into her years ago and has been masquerading as the woman even since. This leads to a crazy murder scandal as David and Lou try to unearth the truth and stay alive, but with all the twists and turns, a few horrific plot holes arise.

Lou Forgets the Cameras

Lou suspects something's off with David as the psychiatrist keeps drugging Adele. He thinks she's mentally fractured after her parents' death and Rob's death, but little does he know Rob killed Adele and is masquerading as her. "Adele" now convinces Lou to get her files from David's office, which she does out of pity. However, when David arrives later on, he makes it clear Lou will go to jail for this. There are also cameras at the office, catching her in the act. Somehow, after working there for years, Lou forgot this, even though she used the cameras herself to spy on David and monitor the premises.

David Knowingly Risks Lou's Safety

David reveals he thinks "Adele's" unstable, telling Lou he wants her to be safe; however, he believes "Adele" is psychic, hence why she knows more than she should. Despite thinking "Adele" can perceive his secrets and warnings, he pushes for the affair with Lou. It makes no sense for him to pursue this when he knows "Adele" will likely find out no matter what, so this puts Lou in danger. It's even more odd since "Adele" has caught him before entertaining other women. While "Adele" allowed this to happen in the past, David hasn't learned and selfishly endangers Lou.

Rob's Cover Up

When Rob and Adele swapped souls years before, little did she know Rob would kill her. He had a crush on David and wanted her money, so he murders her in his body by injecting her with heroin. Rob, in Adele's body, tosses his former body down a well to cover it up, but a cover up wasn't necessary. It's well established Rob has addiction issues, so his physical body could have been abandoned, and the death would've looked like an overdose. This would have still allowed Rob as Adele to be with David, but the dumping of the body forces drama and ignores Rob's tragic, criminal past, which the cops are aware of, making the cover up more suspicious than Rob wanted it to be.

Astral Projection's Varying Side Effects

When Rob astral projects, he's usually discombobulated and struggles to move upon waking up. In one case, Lou had to administer CPR, thinking "Adele's" dead. However, it's a side-effect that disappears conveniently in the end, as Lou susses out the mystery of "Adele's" past. After Rob's soul spies on Lou, she senses it as she was also taught to project. Lou calls "Adele," so Rob returns to her body, and the former side-effects aren't an issue here, so "Adele" can answer the phone. David also should have caught his wife in her near-comatose state after numerous projections, yet the series forgets this rule.

Astral Projection Has Overlooked Rules

When Lou gets to "Adele's" home after the call, it's on fire, so she sends out her soul since the house is locked. The problem is, she knows she can't do anything as a projection, as they're pure energy that can't yell or physically alter something. She also sees Adele unconscious through the window, so there's no way her soul can enter the other's body, since the show established souls can't enter another body that already has a soul in it. Plus, when "Adele" taught her how to project, Lou had a journal which featured all the notes about projections' limitations.

Roy's Masterplan

The fire and Adele's "suicide" is elaborately plotted by Rob, who guessed Lou would eject her soul, hoping to wake "Adele." It's wishful thinking, and it pans out because when Lou goes into Adele's body, Rob's soul is hiding, so he jumps into Lou's body.

There are other problems with this. For instance, Rob leaves a suicide note for Adele, claiming she manipulated David and was the one who killed Rob. Thus, Rob as Lou can now be with an exonerated David, but why would one leave a suicide note if they're burning a house down, which would destroy the note. It's a nonsensical plot point, but somehow the note doesn't catch fire, meaning David is set free, and he can be with "Lou," who is actually Rob.

Season 1 of Behind Her Eyes, starring Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman, Simona Brown, Robert Aramayo and Tyler Howitt, is now available on Netflix.
