Millennials have reason to rejoice, as several throwback fan-favorite Nickelodeon television shows are coming to Netflix: Kenan and Kel, All That, and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.Netflix tweeted on Tuesday that "select seasons of Nickelodeon classics Kenan & Kel, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, and All That will be coming to Netflix (in The US) on June 21!" The Nickelodeon series that launched the careers of Kenan Thompson and Amanda Bynes, among others, are currently available to watch only on Paramount+.
All That was a sketch comedy show, not unlike a pint-sized Saturday Night Live, which spawned Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, and Good Burger. Kenan & Kel was a sitcom that aired for four seasons about two high school best friends and their misadventures together. Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide was a show about the titular Ned and his friends navigating middle school. The conceit of the show was that Ned would break the fourth wall and offer advice to the audience based on what he learned from his group's various school exploits.
The arrival of these shows comes smack-dab in the middle of the ongoing audience craving for nostalgia. Kenan and Kel, All That and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide all aired on Nickelodeon between 1994 and 2005 and have been missed by many fans ever since.
The entertainment industry is in a continuing trend of revivals, and these shows are no exception. All That was revived in 2019 (technically for the second time) with Thompson and Kel Mitchell serving as executive producers. The show ran for one season with 35 episodes. Nickelodeon had ordered more episodes, but due to pandemic-related complications, filming for All That never picked back up.
All That was not the only Nickelodeon show from that era to get a reboot. The Fairly OddParents, another Nickelodeon classic, also debuted a revival. In The Fairly Oddparents: Fairly Odder, Cosmo and Wanda were back as the magical companions to two children. They granted wishes for 13-year-old Viv and her step-brother Roy as the children navigated being part of a blended family. The show had a mix of live-action and animation, with the original voice actors returning as the cartoon fairies. The show arrived on Paramount+ in March 2022.
