Nerdist has released an official statement regarding the controversy surrounding influential entertainment personality Chris Hardwick, in addition to effectively wiping his presence clean from its website. This comes after allegations of abuse and sexual assault surfaced from actor, cosplayer and Hardwick’s ex, Chloe Dykstra.
Hardwick has had a strong presence on the pop culture scene over the last decade especially, hosting shows like The Walking Dead after-show AMC’s Talking Dead, @midnight on Comedy Central, and moderating countless panels at comic conventions. However, Hardwick, who founded The Nerdist Podcast in 2010, has now been erased from the company’s credits following an account of allegations that have surfaced against him.
In response, Nerdist parent company Legendary issued a statement:
Chris Hardwick had no operational involvement with Nerdist for the two years preceding the expiration of his contract in December 2017. He no longer has any affiliation with Legendary Digital Networks. The company has removed all reference to Mr. Hardwick even as the original Founder of Nerdist pending further investigation.
Hardwick’s podcast had been expanded to include a full-fledged network, a YouTube channel and news division, before being acquired by Legendary Entertainment in 2012. Following the expiration of Hardwick’s contract with Legendary in 2017, The Nerdist Podcast rebranded in 2018 as ID10T with Chris Hardwick. Despite parting with Legendary, Hardwick was still credited as Nerdist’s founder — until today.
The Nerdist site also tweeted, “Like you, we were shocked to read the news this morning. Nerdist prides itself on being an inclusive company made up of a positive, diverse community of people who come together to share and discuss the things we love. That type of behavior is contrary to everything we stand for and believe in, and we absolutely don’t tolerate discrimination, harassment, and other forms of abuse.”

Hardwick, who is slated to host BBC America’s Doctor Who panel at 2018’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, is yet to issue a statement. The new season of Talking with Chris Hardwick was set to debut its new season this Sunday; it’s unclear if AMC still plans to air the premiere.
