Following the first ten minutes of the film being released online in early July, the upcoming Neon Genesis Evangelion film, titled Evangelion 3.0+1.0, has a new teaser trailer.

The short trailer shows the series' EVAs and fan-favorites such as Asuka, Rei and Shinji appear in a succession of rapid shots. However, there's no spoken dialogue, leaving the events of Evangelion 3.0+1.0 shrouded in mystery.

The movie is part of the Rebuild of Evangelion series, which is a reboot of the original anime. The Rebuild features a new approach to characters as well as new digital animation. The first movie was released in 2007, with sequels following in 2009 and 2012. The fourth film was originally announced for 2015. However, it's experienced severe delays of the years, due in part to Anno's commitment to Toho Studios and such projects as Shin Godzilla. That 2016 film earned a number of accolades in Japan and did extremely well at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing live-action film in the country that year.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0, which is directed by Hideaki Anno and produced by Studio Khara, is slated for release in June 2020.
