Neill Blomkamp has his eye on a certain Millionaire for his next science fiction movie, Chappie.

The Elysium and District 9 director is reportedly targeting Slumdog Millionaire and The Newsroom actor Dev Patel for a lead role in Chappie, based on his 2004 short film Tetra Vaal. The short centered on a police force of robots patrolling the slums of South Africa; details of the feature-length version aren't fully known.

If cast, Patel would star opposite Sharlto Copley, the South African actor who led District 9 and has a role in Blomkamp's Elysium as well. Copley is set to play "a police robot working the shanty towns," according to The Hollywood Reporter, while Patel would "play the film's human lead, a young man in the impoverished town."
