A new report has emerged revealing that District 9 director Neil Blomkamp has already finished shooting his newest movie.

According to Deadline, Blomkamp filmed a supernatural horror film in British Columbia over the summer. The production was financed by AGC Studios. Blomkamp also penned the script for the secret project. The untitled production will be finished by this spring.

AGC Studios and Blomkamp previously planned to unite on a Taylor Kitsch vehicle entitled The Inferno. Once the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic delayed filming for Inferno to 2021, Blomkamp decided to tackle a smaller-scale production instead in the form of this untitled supernatural feature.

Blomkamp rose to fame through his acclaimed short film Alive in Joburg and its subsequent feature film adaptation, District 9. Grossing $210.88 million worldwide, District 9 went on to score four Oscar nominations at the 82nd Academy Awards, including one for Best Picture. In the wake of that successful feature-length directorial debut, Blomkamp went on to direct the films Elysium and CHAPPiE. Since then, Blomkamp has primarily turned his attention to short films such as Rakka, which starred Sigourney Weaver.

There is currently no release for Neil Blomkamp's untitled supernatural horror film.
