Neil Gaiman, Good Omens co-author and showrunner for the Prime Video series, shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from Season 1.

Gaiman shared the Victorian-themed photos on his official Tumblr, after a fan asked whether he preferred shooting in a "controlled studio or on location." Gaiman responded that he is "loving shooting our Soho set in an indoors studio, rather than built outdoors on an abandoned airfield." He said, "Rain doesn't make people miserable, snow blizzards don't stop us from shooting, people aren't cold and grumpy, we don't have to hang lights from helium balloons to simulate daylight in midwinter."

However, while there are some complications with shooting on location, Gaiman acknowledged that it's not always all bad. "But then, there's often something fun about locations," he said. "You are somewhere real, and watching the amazing machine that's a TV series in operation. Trailers arrive. Background actors get costumed. Magic happens…" The author then shared six photos from 2017 while Good Omens was shooting on location in St. James Park, featuring those aforementioned trailers and background actors in full Victorian garb.

Based on the original 1990 novel, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, written by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the first season of the television adaptation aired its first six episodes on Amazon Prime Video May 13, 2019. A co-production by Amazon Studios and BBC Studios, the first season -- much like the book -- followed the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, who -- having grown accustomed to life on Earth -- attempt to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and, by extension, the end of the world. The series is directed by Mackinnon, with Gaiman serving as creator, writer and showrunner.

Recently, Gaiman's fellow showrunner Douglas Mackinnon shared a photo of series stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen returning to set ahead of the return of Good Omens Season 2. The photos only featured the eyes and hair color of the respective actors, but it is enough to tease that the series' lead actors have returned to begin their work on the second season, with Tennant as the demon Crowley and Sheen as the angel, Aziraphale. Season 2 is currently filming on the Soho set, with the most recent photo being of Tennant and Sheen in full costume.

Amazon announced in June that Good Omens was renewed for a second season, with Sheen and Tennant returning. "The new season will explore storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley," Amazon said of Good Omens 2. "Having been on Earth since The Beginning and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in London's Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery."
