Neil Gaiman is writing a new Sandman story that comes in a box set featuring an actual Dream helm.

As reported by Polygon, DC Comics is putting out a collection of The Sandman called The Sandman: Morpheus Helm Masterpiece Edition. Included in the collection are The Sandman #1-75, prose editions of The Sandman: The Dream Hunters, The Sandman: Endless Nights and The Sandman: Overture, a series of art prints created by Michael Wm. Kaluta and a brand-new Sandman short story written by Gaiman. A 15-inch-long resin helm resembling the one Dream/Morpheus also comes with The Sandman: Morpheus Helm Masterpiece Edition, though it's purely for decorative purposes and shouldn't be worn.

Gaimain's new story is supposedly set in Sandman's Dreaming world. A brief teaser for the story reads, "October 15th 1840 My Dearest Dora, I am sending you a package by separate courier. Before you open the package, let me tell you what it contains, and the curious circumstances under which I obtained it."

Neil Gaiman on Sandman's Recent Netflix Series

Gaiman, who wrote the entire original The Sandman run, recently spoke about the status of the Netflix show's upcoming second season. Despite Netflix having recently canceled a number of other shows, Gaiman reassured fans The Sandman's second season is still currently in the works. "If there's a Netflix and nothing unforeseen and tragic happens to close the world or the show down, then there will be more Sandman," he said. Gaiman also previously confirmed on Twitter, "Sandman Season 2 has been commissioned by Netflix and is real. Whatever behind-the-scenes wrangling and negotiating needed to happen to make this a reality has already occurred."

The Sandman, meanwhile, currently has a handful of comic spinoffs being published by DC Comics. The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives is a six-issue series that launched in Dec. 2022 from writer Pornsak Pichetshote, artist Jeff Stokely, colorist Miquel Muerto and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. The miniseries follows the two fan-favorite characters who were first introduced in 1991's The Sandman #25 by Gaiman and Matt Wagner. The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country - The Glass House is another spinoff series that simultaneously serves as a sequel to The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country. Launching in April 2023, The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country - The Glass House comes from writer James Tynion IV and artist Lisandro Estherren.

The Sandman: Morpheus Helm Masterpiece Edition releases Nov. 14 for the retail price of $500.
