A commissioned piece by famed comic book artist Neal Adams, which was based on a variant cover of Batman #50 by Jim Lee, has recently been shared on Twitter.

The piece by Adams was shared in a Twitter thread which began with Batman writer Tom King posting an image of Lee's variant cover and asking, "Did you spot the hidden villain?" Both Lee and Adams' pieces show Batman and Catwoman embracing in the rain; in Adams' version, however, both characters are wearing costumes that date back to the late '70s.

During the '70s, Catwoman sported a dark purple costume with long hair while the Dark Knight wore his iconic blue and grey suit. It's worth noting that while Adams worked as an artist for both Batman and Detective Comics in the '70s, he never drew Catwoman in the outfit she is wearing in his Lee homage.

Batman #50, which was written by Tom King, would feature the wedding of Catwoman and Batman after many years as an on-again, off-again couple. However, the issue would end with Catwoman leaving Batman at the altar, which upset many fans.

Adams famously worked as an artist on the Detective Comics series with writer Dennis O' Neil, during which time the duo would create one of Batman's most popular villains, Ra's al Ghul. Adams has also worked as an artist on a number of other comic series, including Green ArrowThe Brave and the Bold and X-Men.
