WARNING: The following contains spoilers for NCIS: Hawai'i Season 1, Episode 18, "T'N'T," which aired Monday, March 28 on CBS.

NCIS: Hawai'i has been a roller-coaster ride for its characters over the last few weeks. There was an undercover Chinese spy who was involved with Tennant's team. A later episode strained characters' familial relationships and another took a toll on people's personal lives. However, this week's episode put another relationship at the forefront -- and it included NCIS' Special Agent Torres.

"T'N'T" was part of a two-hour crossover event with NCIS. The first half sent Torres to Hawai'i to work on a cold case with Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant. Although NCIS hinted at what Torres would be doing in Hawaii, his case didn't connect with the plot during the flagship's hour. That meant it wasn't unlike the second half that audiences got to see Torres working alongside Tennant -- and found out that he had history with the franchise's latest strong female character.

NCIS crossover Jane Tennant

When Torres arrived in Hawaii, he and Tennant scooped up a witness that Torres had been hunting for years. However, they were ambushed and the witness was killed -- with his body removed from the scene. What was supposed to be a quick trip turned into a whole ordeal that included fake deaths, a shady private security firm and a kidnapping. It all tied back to something that had happened in Afghanistan five years earlier.

An explosion that killed a Marine had been quickly ruled an accident, but that didn't sit well with Torres. The only two soldiers to survive the blast both disappeared shortly thereafter, so it was obvious to him that someone was covering something up. By the end of the episode Tennant and Torres proved Torres' hunch correct. The CEO of the private security organization had planted the explosives back then so that he could make off with a bunch of money. He was now trying to have everyone else killed to ensure that he got away with it, but the combined NCIS and NCIS: Hawai'i teams foiled his plan.

NCIS Tennant and Torres crossover

While the plot did involve things blowing up, "T'N'T" wasn't referring to the explosive. The acronym stood for "Torres and Tennant," and the rumor mill was chugging along throughout. The duo's story started at a law enforcement conference in Orlando where Torres and Tennant spent a lot of time together. During the entire NCIS crossover, their team members were guessing about what happened between them. Theories ranged from jumping into a pool from a balcony to base jumping from the Walt Disney World castle, and it was funny to see Torres and Tennant try to work together while ignoring everyone's queries.

It could have all been left up in the air for fans to wonder about, but that's not how things ended. At the end of the episode, Torres mentioned having been stuck on top of the Orlando Tower for a whole night with Tennant. Then the he and Tennant agreed that what happened in Orlando would stay in Orlando… making the implications pretty obvious. Clearly they won't become a couple (since Torres is probably on his way out), but it appears that they were for at least one evening.

To see if Torres and Tennant have any future interactions, watch NCIS: Hawai’i on CBS. New episodes premiere on Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
