NBC's Grimm Will End with Season 6

All good things must come to an end, and such is the case for NBC's urban fantasy thriller "Grimm," which will come to a close with its upcoming sixth season on NBC. Fans won't be left wanting, though. The abridged final season, which is set to span 13 episodes, will resolve the final fight everyone has been waiting for: Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) versus Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz).

With Renard the newly elected mayor of Portland at the end of Season Five, Nick will have to consider his approach very carefully, according to a report from Variety. Meanwhile, the rest of the "Grimm" world spins out of control as wesen Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), and Rosalee (Bree Turner), will have to deal with the responsibilities of bringing a child into the show's bizarre and often horrific world.

Created by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angelt" veteran David Greenwalt, "Grimm" has been airing on NBC since 2011 when it debuted on a Friday night to an audience of just over six million viewers. The show peaked at just shy of eight million viewers during Season 3, but has had difficulty maintaining said viewership in recent years, averaging under six million viewers during its fifth season.

The sixth and final season of "Grimm" begins airing on NBC January 6, 2016.
