NBC has placed a straight-series-order for Young Rock, a sitcom based on the early years of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

According to TVLine, the series received an eleven episode order, with Johnson attached as an executive producer and cast member. According to NBC, Johnson “will appear in each episode as the focus and inspiration of the series will be about his formative years.”

Despite a rough childhood -- in which Johnson was reportedly arrested for fighting, theft, and check fraud -- the former wrestler has gone on to become one of the most prominent stars in the United States. He currently stars in The Fast and the Furious and Jumanji franchises, and is set to appear as Black Adam in the DCEU film and Disney's upcoming Jungle Cruise. He also starred in Ballers, which ran for five seasons on HBO.

Fresh Off the Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan and co-executive producer Jeff Chiang wrote the pilot for the series. They will also serve as executive producers with Johnson Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras.

No release date or other casting details were given.
