One of the five new hour-long dramas getting the go-ahead from NBC for next season is Crossbones, a pirate series from Luther creator Neil Cross.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cross is Colin Woodar's book The Republic of Pirates, which is set during the Golden Age of Piracy during the early 18th century, and centers on the notorious Blackbeard. NBC ordered 10 episodes of the expensive-sounding series, which will be producerd by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.
Last we heard of Cross, he was working on a remake of The Day of the Triffids for producer Sam Raimi as well as several projects with Guillermo del Toro.
Crossbones follows Hannibal as NBC's second straight-to-series order for the fall season.
