And while only Hulu officially pulled out of the running on Friday, it was expected that Netflix and TBS would ultimately pass, as well, leaving only NBC in the running. Interestingly enough, it was NBC that originally sold the series to Fox, so for Robert Greenblatt, the Chairman of NBC Entertainment, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is finally coming home. "Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home." He continued by saying, “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”Following the news, cast members celebrated on Twitter by thanking fans for speaking out following the initial cancellation. Brooklyn Nine-Nine quickly became a trending topic on Twitter following Fox's decision to cancel it, forcing fans -- including famous fans such as Mark Hamill and Lin-Manuel Miranda -- to speak out against the decision, pleading with Hulu to revive it. And while the streaming service seemed like the logical home for the show, as it currently owns the SVOD rights, it was NBC that ultimately decided to bring the series back from the chopping block.
