Get the final nails ready and dig the grave, Mockingbird Lane is officially dead.
Bryan Fuller’s NBC reboot of The Munsters had been struggling for years, but eventually assembled a cast that included Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard, with a pilot directed by Bryan Singer. But, it wasn’t enough. The network wasn’t happy with the results and decided to show the pilot as a Halloween special earlier this year.
Most figured that was the end of it, but apparently the death warrant wasn’t signed until recently. Fuller took to Twitter Thursday to announce there won’t be life for Mockingbird Lane beyond that special.
“I tweet with a heavy heart,” Fuller wrote. “NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”
Although Mockingbird Lane was a passion project for Fuller, don’t feel too bad for him. He’s got another series in the works at the Peacock focusing on another morbid character: Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal is shooting its 13-episode order with Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter and Hugh Dancy as the FBI agent that everyone’s favorite cannibal assists. The series does not yet have a release date, but will air sometime next year.
