Chris Hardwick continues to face the fallout of the allegations of sexual abuse and assault leveled against him by former girlfriend and fellow geek personality Chloe Dykstra.

NBC is now assessing his role as host of the game show The Wall and issued a statement that the allegations of misconduct are indeed being taken "very seriously," hinting that perhaps he could be axed from this too in due time.

The studio statement reads:

“These allegations about Chris Hardwick took us by surprise as we have had a positive working relationship with him. However, we take allegations of misconduct very seriously. Production on The Wall does not begin until September, and in the meantime we are continuing to assess the situation and will take appropriate action based on the outcome.”

The game show was renewed for a third season last March but that seems to be on pause at the moment because of Dykstra insinuating in an open letter that Hardwick was her abuser in their long-term relationship.

Hardwick, who recently released a statement of his own denying the allegations, has seen the backlash come quite swiftly. Firstly, Nerdist -- the company he founded -- has wiped any affiliation with him, AMC has pulled the plug on his talk show Talking with Chris Hardwick, and then he was removed as moderator of The Walking Dead and Doctor Who panels at the Comic-Con International in San Diego in July.
