When the Star Wars Twitter account wished Natalie Portman happy birthday on June 9, franchise icon Mark Hamill retweeted the message, and revealed he's never actually met the actress, who played Luke Skywalker's mother Padme Amidala in the prequels. During her appearance Thursday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Portman said she'd like to rectify this Star Wars missed connection.

Colbert brought up Hamill's tweet to Portman, saying, "But you're his mom." Portman replied that, "It's such a shame. I would love to meet him. Mark, I'd love to meet you. Where are you? Come over."

Considering the ever-expanding Star Wars franchise, not to mention the approaching 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, it seems likely the two should have reason to bump shoulders in the near future. If not, Colbert may be able to arrange the introduction. After all, he points out that as someone who's spent more time with Portman than Hamill has, and has spent more time with Hamill than with Portman, he may just be the center of the Star Wars universe.

Hilariously, in true "mom" fashion, Portman did express some mock outrage that Hamill didn't bother to wish her a happy birthday along with his revelation that they've never met.
