Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will soon be trading sword and sorcery for horror, as the actress has been cast in a lead role for Showtime's upcoming Penny Dreadful spinoff series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.

The series will take place in 1938 Los Angeles and follow Detective Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) as he is caught up in a horrendous murder plot that reflects the history of the famous city. According to Variety, Dormer will play Magda, a charismatic demon who takes on many forms and serves as both an ally and an enemy.
