The power scale noticeably crept upward by the time Shippuden rolled around. It was necessary with the introduction of Akatsuki, but the scale became completely unbalanced once the war happened. Characters, namely Naruto, were getting power-ups so fast it was hard to even keep track of them all.

It led to some great fight scenes as the battles with Madara and Obito were both very enjoyable. It did have the by-product of dwarfing abilities very quickly. Nothing Naruto showed before the war holding a candle to what he pulled off during it. He also had a very big penchant for using a ton of Rasengan variations.

10 Negative Emotions Sense

It's not as flashy an ability as many others in his arsenal, but Naruto's ability to sense negative emotions such as hatred or killing intent ended up key to helping the villages win the war. He was able to root out that Kisame had been hiding inside Samehada the entire time, working as a secret agent.

He was also key in weeding out the hidden white Zetsu army that was wreaking havoc the first night of the war with Tobi.

9 Chakra Transfer Technique

Chakra Transfer Technique

There's little doubt that the villages would have lost the war without Naruto's aide. It's for more reasons than just what a powerhouse he was. He managed to take chakra transferring to the next level, not only using it to lend his aid to others as Tsunade had in the past but granting them a shroud of Nine-Tails energy that was similar to the form he shifted to in the first half of the series.

It gave the boost they needed to keep fighting and not have to rely entirely on him.

8 Planetary Rasengan

Naruto gained the ability to do the Planetary Rasengan once he gained access to his Nine-tails chakra mode. The technique had a Big Ball Rasengan act like a planet to three smaller Rasengan.

They all work in conjunction with one another, creating a massive vortex once they strike a target. It caused even a ninja revived by the Impure World Technique quite a bit of time to recoup itself, something that normally took little time at all.

7 Big Ball Rasenshuriken

The Rasengan has had tons of different variations, and none were as strong as the Rasenshuriken variety, one that he debuted earlier in Shippudden. As power levels rose, the Big Ball version was introduced during the battle with Madara. The ball was so large by the time he threw it that it shined as bright as a moon.

Upon detonation, it can be seen from many miles away and was strong enough to subdue Madara long enough to be restrained, even destroying some of Hashirama's wood dragons in the process.

6 Nine-Tails Chakra Mode

Of all the power-ups that Naruto received in the series, this was the most hype, achieving something he'd been striving for since the start of the series. Seeing Kurama look at Naruto as an equal and the two of them working together as one singular unit was amazing and a culmination of so much development.

It let Naruto tap into powers that he'd only ever flashed here and there throughout the series, most notably in his battle with Pain.

5 Tailed Beast Chakra Arms

Tailed Beast Chakra Arms had appeared as early as Gaara's battle with Naruto, but never was it shown with as near the level of effectiveness that Naruto had. He's able to crush swords just by squeezing them tight enough, making them as weak as a toothpick.

With further training from the Eight-Tails, Naruto can sprout multiple arms at once and even create tiny arms around his finger. The ability proved vital for his battle with the Third Raikage, allowing him to guide his Rasenshuriken in ways he otherwise couldn't.

4 Tailed Beast Shockwave

The Tailed Beast Shockwave varied in strength depending on the beast using it. When Kurama did on his own, it was strong enough to knock back a Sage Are: Ultra Big-ball Rasengan with ease and even push away fully powered Tailed Beast.

It was strong enough to counteract Pain's Shinra Tensai as well. When Naruto gained the ability, he could send out powerful explosions with a simple wave of his arms. It helped drive home just how strong Kurama was.

3 Chibaku Tensai

Chibaku Tensai is one of the strongest abilities in the series, making it crazy that it debuted with Pain well before the end of the anime. It's so powerful that it took both Sasuke and Naruto to be able to utilize it, helping them reseal Kaguya and Black Zetsu in one of her pocket dimensions.

It's so strong that only those who are descendants of the Sage of the Six Paths could use it, making it one of the rarest Jutsu in the Naruto world.

2 Tailed Beast Ball Rasenshuriken

The Tailed Beast Ball Rasenshuriken is the normal Tailed Beast Ball on steroids as Naruto adds his wind element to it, ramping up it's damage immensely. The explosion radius is massive, resulting in his ability to take out multiple planetoid objects in one blast.

It proves vital in the battle against the many variations of the Ten-Tails that Naruto goes up against. It's the shame that even an ability this strong ends up dwarfed by the end of the series.

1 Six Paths: Ultra-Big Ball Rasenshuriken

This is the alpha and omega when it comes to Naruto's Rasenshuriken, strong enough to counter Sasuke's most powerful attack when the two did battle to close Shippudden. It combines the power of the Six Paths and all of his knowledge of Rasenshuriken to create a maneuver strong enough that it can create a vortex so strong that it resembles a black hole.

It's proof of just how high the power levels ended up getting towards the end of the series.
