The Konoha 11 were a generation of shinobi in the Naruto universe. Diverse and powerful, their various skills balance out the village's needs when fulfilling various tasks. Though every member of the group has experienced combat at one point in the series, not all of them are built for it.

The durability within the Konoha 11 is so dramatically different that attacks which could kill a certain member might be shrugged off by another. Through identifying the limits of what they can endure, it becomes easier to identify the ninja that are battle-ready.

11 Ino Relies On Her Team To Protect Her

Adult Ino smiling in Naruto.

Ino is one of the few ninja whose toolkit makes her even more vulnerable to attacks. When using the Mind Transfer Jutsu, her default body is completely exposed to enemy retaliation. As a result, she relies heavily on her allies to protect her when appropriate.

To make matters worse, Ino's raw durability leaves much to be desired. Even Sakura was able to knock her unconscious before training alongside Tsunade. Since Ino has not developed taijutsu, it stands to reason she cannot endure much more abuse than her childhood days.

10 Tenten Relied On Defeating Enemies Quickly

A master of ninja weaponry, Tenten relied on defeating enemies quickly rather than engaging in a prolonged battle. Since she did not produce shields or armor from her carrying scrolls, such a strategy accommodated the skills she had.

Unfortunately, Tenten's offensive toolkit is not powerful enough to adequately compensate for her weak defenses. Her battle against Temari was one of the shortest in the series, with its one-sided outcome providing one of the most brutal Sand Sibling victories of the Chunin Exams.

9 Shikamaru Is Only Good At Damage Mitigation

Shikamaru Staring At The Sky

The tactical Shikamaru is an expert at damage mitigation. His Shadow Possession Jutsu allows him to freeze enemies in their tracks, and he can immobilize multiple adversaries at once. However, there are a number of problems with his techniques.

Since his targets imitate his motions, he must be very precise when disabling them. Additionally, it requires an environment conducive to producing shade and does not increase Shikamaru's base durability whatsoever. Nonetheless, considering that he resisted Temari and Tayuya's attacks, Shikamaru's endurance is fairly impressive in its own way.

8 Neji Is Better At Disabling Enemies Than Resisting Them

Neji having a wholesome moment in the woods in Naruto.

Despite being a melee intensive fighter, Neji is better at disabling opponents than resisting them. In almost every conflict, he was defeated with a single calculated attack. This was first demonstrated in the Chunin Exams, where Naruto knocked him unconscious with an uppercut.

Neji was also killed quickly during the Fourth Shinobi War, where the Gedo Statue's spines pierced his body. Ironically, he could have survived this attack if he used his deflection technique. It reliably circumvents his opponent's projectiles, forcing them to engage him in close combat where his Byakugan provides an advantage.

7 Shino Had A Limited Tolerance For Enemy Attacks

Despite being a ranged fighter, Shino had a decent tolerance for enemy attacks. During his battle against Kankuro, he resisted the puppets' poisons long enough to bring him to a draw. Additionally, he survived an encounter with Konan, whose explosions were deadly enough to put Obito at serious risk.

Nonetheless, Shino's jutsu does not contribute to his base durability. However, his bugs are so accessible that he is almost never caught in a position where he can't defend himself.

6 Choji's Human Boulder & Super Expansion Increase His Resilience

Choji fights Asuma

Choji's Super Expansion and Human Boulder techniques effectively let him perform as his team's human shield. His ability to grow and transform allows him to take significantly more abuse while his allies perform their work. However, Choji's skills have their limits.

Jirobo managed to halt his Human Boulder with his bare hands, and Dosu's sound gauntlet circumvented his defenses entirely. While Choji's extended range and huge body make him a more formidable presence than most, he can still be defeated through straightforward ninjutsu or taijutsu. In the end, his jutsu are only intended to buy his friends time.

5 Kiba's Fang Over Fang & Man-Beast Transformation Require Incredible Willpower

Kiba and Akamaru in Naruto.

Kiba's Fang Over Fang technique allows him to become a powerful tornado alongside his battle hound, Akamaru. Together, they tore through Gedo Statue forces and even huge gates erected by Sakon and Ukon built specifically to stop them.

Considering that Kiba launches his attacks headfirst, the nature of their success bodes well for his raw durability. He also has a staggering amount of willpower, able to carve through his own flesh in order to negate an enemy's attack. Kiba's grittiness and determination make him an underrated asset to Konoha.

4 Hinata Withstood Attacks From Pain For A Time

Few living shinobi can claim to have faced Pain by themselves, and ever fewer live to tell the tale. When Naruto was on the verge of defeat against him, Hinata bought him time by confronting the villain herself.

Though failing in melee combat, she withstood enough abuse for Naruto to recover and finish Pain off. Considering that Hinata survived, her durability is far more impressive than Neji's. In this regard, she has succeeded the goal established during the Chunin Exams.

3 Sakura's Healing Makes Her Extremely Tenacious & Formidable

A masterful medical kunoichi, Sakura's Hundred Healings technique allowed her to recover from abuse time and again. As a result, she could contend with monsters like Madara and Kaguya without having nearly as much skill as her Team Seven peers.

Sakura's willpower is equally impressive. She broke Ino's mind transfer with concentration alone and even stood down Team Dosu by herself. Fearless and scrappy, Sakura's jutsu are an immense credit to her base durability and compliment her affinity for taijutsu well.

2 Rock Lee Was The First Ninja To Survive A Sand Coffin

Rock Lee giving a thumbs up in Naruto.

Up until the fight with Rock Lee, Gaara's "Sand Coffin" technique reduced his targets to a bloody paste. However, Lee was able to survive being crushed multiple times, which suggests how honed his body has become.

This was in spite of the fact that he already pushed past his regular limit by using the Leaf Hurricane ability earlier in the fight. Further, Lee was still recovering from a failed battle with Team Dosu. Swift and fiercely resilient, Lee has tremendous durability without needing any jutsu.

1 Naruto Could Survive The Combined Attacks Of All Other Tailed Beasts

Naruto was undisputedly the most durable character of Konoha 11. Kurama, his Sage mode, and shadow clones all assisted with his longevity in battle. Further, the ninja's lineage as an Uzumaki increased his standard rejuvenation beyond reasonable limits.

During the final battle against Sasuke, Naruto managed to survive numerous hits despite his opponent being infused with the other eight enslaved Tailed Beasts. He was similarly stalwart against opponents like Orochimaru and Pain, who should have been more than a match for him at the time, though were defeated nonetheless.
