The title of Kage is a prestigious position given to the strongest and most efficient shinobi of the village. Becoming a Kage means the person is at the helm of the village, and as such, responsible for its protection, maintaining peace, and of course, treating everyone like their own family.
Over the course of Naruto, we've seen lots of Kage come and go, but some elites managed to climb to the top before others did. These prodigies made a name for themselves by obtaining the title of a Kage quickly, they engraved their names in history. Here are the 10 youngest Kage in Naruto.
The Fifth Raikage of Kumogakure, Darui rose to this position a long time after the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War. As the right-hand man of Ay the 4th, it was no surprise that he was the next Raikage of Kumogakure. Displaying his skills in the war and by taking down Kinkaku and Ginkaku, Darui basically sealed the position for himself.
In Naruto Shippuden, Darui was a Jonin at the age of 26. He was first seen as a Kage in Naruto Chapter 700, which takes place around 7-10 years after the conclusion of the series. As such, it is possible that Darui had obtained this position anywhere between the age of 33 to 36.
9 Kakashi Hatake
Taking over the mantle after Tsunade Senju, Kakashi Hatake is the Sixth Hokage of Konoha. After the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi became the Hokage right away. Kakashi fought valiantly in the Fourth Great Ninja War, enough to add to his already impressive reputation and gifting him the Kage title.
By the end of the war, he was 31 years old and he became the Hokage within a year of the war's conclusion. At 31, or 32 Kakashi is one of the youngest to have received the title of a Kage in the series.
8 Mei Terumi
The Fifth Mizukage of Kirigakure, Mei Terumi is one of the strongest Kunoichi in the series. She followed up Yagura to the position, and under her reign, Kirigakure improved massively and put behind the days of the bloodshed. In Naruto Shippuden, Mei Terumi was 31 years old and already a Kage.
Presumably, she had become a Kage a few years before the start of Naruto Shippuden, which means that by the age of 29, or maybe even before that, Mei had risen to the position of the Fifth Mizukage.
7 Yagura Karatachi
The man responsible for the creation of the 'Bloody Mist', Yagura was one of the brightest shinobi of his time. As the Jinchūriki of Isobu, the Three-tails, he was a huge source of power for the village. To further add to his authority, Yagura mastered its powers at a very young age, and then, rose to the position of Kage.
While it is unknown when exactly he became the Fourth Mizukage, it was likely in his twenties. As a perfect Jinchuriki, Yagura was capable of fighting against two of the Akatsuki members, and even killing one of them rather easily. Undoubtedly, Yagura was an impressive Kage when it came to power.
One of Kirigakure's elite Jonin in Naruto and the wielder of the Hiramekarei, Chojuro appeared as a bright shinobi right from the start. After Mei Terumi, the title of the Mizukage went to Chojuro and he became the Sixth Mizukage of the village. Since Chojuro was 19 in Naruto Shippuden, he likely became a Kage anywhere between 26-30 years of age.
Like Darui, he was first seen as a Kage in Naruto Chapter 700, which takes place around 7-10 years after the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Either way, Chojuro donned the hat of the Kage at a very young age, which just goes to show how splendid a shinobi he really is.
The granddaughter of the Third Tsuchikage, Kurotsuchi was a Jonin at a surprisingly young age of 18. During the Ninja War, she displayed her leadership skills by commanding the shinobi of her village with incredible vigor. Being extremely talented in ninjutsu and combat, it was only a matter of time before she took the reins to the village.
By the Boruto era, Kurotsuchi was already the Fourth Tsuchikage of the Hidden Stone Village. Although it's unknown at what age she rose to the position, we do know that she did it in her early twenties, likely by the age of 25, displaying her incredible talent and the ability to lead an entire village in the process.
4 Naruto Uzumaki
Aiming to become the greatest Hokage ever right from the beginning of the series, Naruto Uzumaki achieved this goal quite late in the series, although at a young age. By 17, Naruto had already gotten through the Fourth Great Ninja War, and within the next few years, he married Hinata. Boruto was born shortly afterward, with Himawari being born two years after him.
Within a few years after Himawari's birth, Naruto became the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure. While an exact age isn't provided to us, it can be assumed that it took Naruto about 8-10 years after the conclusion of the war to become the Hokage, making him at least 25 when he achieved his goals.
3 Minato Namikaze
Renowned as the Yellow Flash of the Leaf, Minato Namikaze was a prodigy since his Academy days. Before the age of 18, he was already a full-fledged shinobi, strong enough to take on several Jonin at once. After leading the village in the Third Great Ninja War, Hiruzen Sarutobi passed on the title of the Hokage to Minato within the next few years, making him an extremely young Kage.
Minato's reign was short, and it lasted for just 2-3 years. Since Minato died at the age of 24, it can be assumed that he became the Hokage at the age of 21 at the maximum.
2 Hiruzen Sarutobi
Also known as 'God of Shinobi' and 'The Professor', Hiruzen Sarutobi was described as the strongest Hokage ever in his prime, except for Naruto, of course. Training under the likes of Hashirama and Tobirama, the young Sarutobi was bound to become Hokage at some point. Graduating from the Ninja Academy at the age of 12, Hiruzen took part in the First Shinobi War, which saw the reign of Tobirama Senju come to an end.
It was during this war when Hiruzen, still in his teens at that point, was appointed as the Third Hokage of Konoha, due to his bright Will of Fire. He went on to become the best Hokage in the series, and his will was later inherited by Naruto Uzumaki himself.
The son of the Fourth Kazekage, Gaara was the Jinchūriki of the One-Tail, Shukaku. Described as a failure by his father, Gaara took pleasure in killing whoever crossed his path until he met Naruto Uzumaki. After connecting with Naruto and being understood for the very first time, he saw the errors in himself and aimed to become an excellent shinobi.
By the age of 15, Gaara was already the Kazekage, making him the youngest Kage ever in Naruto. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, he played a vital role in uniting the hearts of shinobi and motivating them to fight for his friend. Gaara wasn't just young, but equally experienced when he became the Fifth Kazekage.
