Naruto Uzumaki is the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village and also the strongest shinobi in the Naruto world. He was the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, and in time he gained access to all the other Tailed Beasts' chakra as well. Over the years, Naruto Uzumaki developed several powerful forms that vary in strength, but even the less powerful forms were intimidating to friend and foe alike.

As he grew, each new form helped him surpass the threats hanging over his village and world, both big and small. 10 Naruto's Earliest Form Allowed Him To Tap Into His Tailed Beast Chakra For The First Time

Initial Jinchuriki Form

Despite the immense power each Jinchuriki possesses, they can only start using it to its full potential once they've unlocked the ability to do so. This happened early on in the series for Naruto, during the Land of Waves arc. In this first major plotline, Team 7 finds themselves up against their greatest foes yet, a pair of of rogue ninja from the Hidden Mist named Zabuza and Haku. Their threat pushes Naruto to his limits, allowing him to finally tap into his Tailed Beast chakra for the first time.

Thus, fans are introduced to Naruto's first official power form, the Initial Jinchuriki Form. In this mode, Naruto is able to dip into his wealth of chakra like never before, giving him enhanced strength, speed, and durability. He also undergoes a slight physical change, appearing more feral and beast-like. This early form gives Naruto a considerable edge, though it's far from his strongest transformation.

9 Naruto Uzumaki's First Proper Form Materialized At The Valley Of The End

One-Tailed Cloak

Though the Initial Jinchuriki Form is technically Naruto Uzumaki's first power form, it does little to actually transform him. The One-Tailed Cloak, Naruto's first proper form, manifests during his very first fight against Sasuke Uchiha at the Valley of the End. As the two fight, Naruto taps into his Nine-Tails chakra and manages to match Sasuke, despite the latter using his Cursed Mark Stage 3. This gives him nearly enough power to beat Sasuke in this early battle, but not quite.

Still, the One-Tailed Cloak form is quite impressive, as it grants Naruto a massive amount of chakra, along with giving him the ability to heal from severe injuries. Though he exhibited some of these abilities before in the Initial Jinchuriki stage, this form sees these powers strengthened considerably. This is also the first time Naruto manages to materialize his chakra in a physical state, although it's far from the last.

Four-Tails Transformation

With time, the Eight Trigrams Seal that Minato Namikaze placed on Naruto Uzumaki weakens. As a result, more of the Nine-Tail's chakra starts leaking out from his body. When enraged enough, Naruto can eventually access immense power with the Four-Tails Transformation. In this form, the Tailed Beast dwelling within him takes over, controlling him body and movements. It gives him a huge increase in power, though there are massive drawbacks to it.

Essentially, Naruto must barter his sensory perception in exchange for this form. In addition, the form causes immense pain to the Jinchuriki, and it even shortens their lifespan if used too much. However, there's no denying its awesome power, as the Four-Tails Transformation is even strong enough to defeat Orochimaru.

7 Naruto Became Strong Enough To Break Free From Hashirama's Sealing Jutsu

Six-Tails Form

During Naruto's fight against Pain during the Pain's Assault arc, Hinata's apparent death causes him to lose control and access the power of the Nine-Tails. This time he manages to tap into even more power, manifesting the Six-Tails Form. Naruto also gains a Kyuubi skeleton on top of his body, only emphasizing his transformation even more as he grows ever closer to the final Jinchuriki form.

In terms of power, Naruto is much stronger than he was with Four-Tails. Even Pain, with all the power that he possesses, has trouble dealing with him. Empowered by the Six Tails Form, Naruto is strong enough to resist and break free from Hashirama's Sealing Jutsu. Ultimately, however, he fell to Pain's Chibaku Tensei.

6 Naruto Accessed Immense Power Once He Was Trapped Within The Chibaku Tensei

Eight-Tails Form

Naruto's fight against Pain tested his self-control. The Eight-Tails Form is an incredibly potent power that he accesses during the battle, once he's trapped within the Chibaku Tensei. Losing further control, Naruto releases most of the power of the Nine-Tails and begins radiating a menacing aura. In this form, Naruto loses what little control he has left, almost giving in completely to Kurama's will.

Even a Sealing Jutsu as powerful as the Chibaku Tensei – enacted by the Rinnegan – isn't enough to hold Naruto in place while he's in Eight-Tails Form. What's more, Naruto can also spit fire in this form, which is an ability unique to it so far. Thankfully, he's stopped from transforming into the Nine-Tails by his father, Minato Namikaze, who sealed his chakra inside the Eight Trigrams Seal.

5 Naruto Had To Fight And Defeat The Nine-Tails Before Ripping Out Its Chakra

Nine-Tails Chakra Mode – Partial

The Nine-Tails Chakra Mode was available to Naruto once he gained control over Kurama's powers. To achieve this, Naruto sought the help of Killer Bee, a Perfect Jinchuriki. After some intense training, Naruto must fight and defeat the Nine-Tails and rip out its chakra from its body. This is the only way he'll have total control over his Tailed Beast, as well as he wealth of reserved chakra.

Although strong, Naruto fails at his first attempt to defeat Kurama. However, with unexpected help from his mother, he's able to take chakra from the creature and gain an ability known as the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. This form grants him tremendous strength, speed, and the ability to sense negative emotions as well. Its powers are demonstrated during the Fourth Great Ninja War, where even Naruto's shadow clones have become powerful enough to take on and defeat Kage-level shinobi. But even with this mindblowing power, Naruto's power-ups are far from over.

4 Even Obito And Madara Acknowledged Naruto's Overwhelming Strength

Kurama Chakra Mode

Toward the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto finally manages to get through to Kurama. Naruto's bright spirit forces Kurama to let go of the hatred he became so comfortable with. As he finally sees the light, he and Naruto put aside their diffferences to become a true team. With Kurama at his side, Naruto no longer needs to trap him in a torii seal within his body, allowing him to begin unlocking his full potential.

The two form a strong bond and Kurama gives Naruto full authority over his chakra. This power is much greater in comparison to Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. It's basically a step up from the previous form, with a similar appearance and all the same abilities. Only real difference is that now that Naruto has full control, his abilities have become that much stronger. However, it also takes quite some time for Naruto to get used to this new power. Even someone as strong as Obito and Madara can't help, though they acknowledge Naruto's strength when in this form.

3 Naruto's Final Jinchuriki Form Combines His Power With Kurama's

Tailed Beast Mode

Throughout the series, as Naruto gains further control over his Tailed Beast chakra, he unlocks one powerful transformation after the next. Once he's finally made peace with Kurama and the two harmonize, he gains the power to unleash his final Jinchuriki form, the Tailed Beast Mode. In this form, Naruto transforms completely into the tailed beast, taking on the form of the Nine-Tails himself as he gains access to his full strength and abilities.

The Tailed Beast Mode is featured multiple times throughout the series, used by various Jinchuriki, such as Gaara and Killer Bee. However, Naruto himself isn't able to unlock the ability until much later into the story. It's only after he and Kurama are able to work together as a team that Naruto gains the complete control over the Nine-Tails' power. But even with his Jinchuriki powers mastered in Tailed Beast Mode, this impressive form still isn't Naruto's strongest.

2 Naruto Received Inconceivable Power From Hagoromo Otsutsuki Himself

Six Paths Sage Mode

By the tail-end of Naruto Shippuden, it seems like Naruto gains one amazing new power after the next. But even with so many impressive forms at his disposal, he greatest doesn't arrive until close to the very end of the series. Naruto's strongest form, Six Paths Sage Mode, is granted to him by Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths himself. Naruto attains this power during the Fourth Great Ninja War, shortly before fighting Six Paths Madara.

The power he gains from Hagoromo drastically increases his strength to the point where he could even combat Madara and Kaguya Otsutsuki. Almost no one is can match him in this form, bringing Naruto to absolute godlike levels of strength. Using the chakra of the Tailed Beasts, his power only increases, making him nigh-unstoppable. As Naruto has grown into adulthood, Six Paths Sage Mode has undergone some changes in appearance, but it remains strong as ever, ultimately acting as Naruto's final form in the series.

1 Naruto's Strongest Form Yet Grants Him Incredible Power, But Is A Double-Edged Sword

Baryon Mode

Although the Six Paths Sage Mode is Naruto's final and most powerful form in the original series, he gains an even greater mode in the sequel series Boruto. In this continuation, things come to a head when Konoha finds itself in grave danger at the hands of the Otsutsuki Clan once again. With the stakes higher than ever and everything on the line, Naruto strikes a deal with Kurama, tapping into the strongest power in their arsenal, the Baryon Mode.

In the Baryon Mode form, Naruto's strength increases tenfold as he reaches beyond godlike levels of power. While actiavted, Naruto can take out even the strongest enemies in just a few hits. It's undoubtedly the hero's most powerful and imposing form, but it doesn't come without a price. The use of Baryon Mode is essentially a self-sacrifice, as this form burns through chakra at an alarming rate. If used too long, it can even put the lives of the Jinchuriki and Tailed Beast at risk. As a result, though it's Naruto's strongest weapon, it should be used very sparingly.
