Naruto Uzumaki is the undeniably famous lead character of Masashi Kishimoto's groundbreaking manga Naruto. Naruto is a very strong ninja and his strength made him the strongest ninja in both the manga's history and our own. In fact,there are only a few characters that are close to his level. However, it is the nature of Shonen anime that the previous generation is surpassed by the youth.
It's really just a matter of time before fans will finally get to see stronger characters from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations surpass Naruto himself. There are a lot of notable candidates, but it's not possible for everyone to achieve the same level as Naruto. Some characters have already tried and despite their best efforts, they failed to supersede the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf. 10 CAN SURPASS NARUTO: Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto is the son of Naruto and Hinata. He wasn't fond of Naruto's behavior towards his own family. Boruto felt neglected and he grew up to be a grumpy kid just like his father. As he grew up, he realized what a splendid job his father was doing. This caused Boruto to admire his father.
Boruto has grown into a pretty powerful ninja. He possesses the Jougan and the Karma. Both of them are very powerful abilities and they make a very dangerous opponent. In order to ensure that Boruto grows to be a powerful ninja, Sasuke took him under his wing. With Boruto's set of abilities, there is no doubt that he can surpass his father.
9 THEY ALREADY FAILED: Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke Uchiha is known as the "Other Hokage"." He was the rival of Naruto ever since they were kids. Sasuke always had one goal in mind and that was to surpass Naruto and he was actually ahead of Naruto for some time.
Thing is Naruto trained incredibly hard and his growth was further boosted by the Six Paths powers that he received from Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Currently, it is said that Sasuke is the only person who could match Naruto in a fight. But even then, the veracity of the statement is dubious at best.
8 CAN SURPASS NARUTO: Kawaki
Kawaki is one of the new characters that have been introduced in the series. His first appearance left the fans in awe. Many people have theorized him to be the person who might kill Naruto in the future. However, the theorists might wanna put their words on hold as currently, Kawaki is trying to save Naruto from the clutches of Kara.
Kawaki also possesses Karma and he has mastered the ability to a great extent. Adding to his strengths that give opponents a diffuclt time are his modified body parts. He definitely has the potential to surpass Naruto in the future.
7 THEY ALREADY FAILED: Toneri Otsutsuki
Toneri was the main antagonist of Naruto: The Last. He was a descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki. Toneri misread what Hamura actually had stated in his will, so he started to work on his plan to awaken the Tenseigan. Toneri had one of the two things required to awaken the Tenseigan.
All he needed was to get his hands on a pure Byakugan but even with his Tenseigan fully awakened, Toneri couldn't manage to beat Naruto. In fact, Naruto crushed him without even using his full power!
6 CAN SURPASS NARUTO: Sarada Uchiha
Sarada is the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura. She is one of the members of the new Team 7. Sarada has inherited traits of both of her parents and it is clearly visible. She has the smartness of Sasuke and the physical power of Sakura.
Sarada dreams of becoming the next and it definitely wouldn't be an easy task given the person she wishes to replace. Sarada is one of the most promising new characters and definitely one to look out for.
5 THEY ALREADY FAILED: Neji Hyuga
Neji Hyuga was one of the most loved characters in Naruto. He was a member of the Branch Family of the Hyuga which meant that he had to bear the cursed seal. Neji had already accepted his fate and he just wanted to grow stronger. He continued to train hard and during the Chunin Exams, he was one of the favorites to win.
However, his journey to the finals was cut short by Naruto himself. Neji lost the fight and to be honest, his character was never the same again.
4 CAN SURPASS NARUTO: Mitsuki
Mitsuki was the shining light in Boruto for a long time. He was by far the most interesting character in the series. Mitsuki's character development endeared him to the audience. During the Chunin Exams, he showed his abilities which surpassed that of Shinki, one of the tournament favorites. Mitsuki was also able to subdue Shino in a one-on-one fight, which is a big accomplishment.
According to many theories, Mitsuki might have a connection to the Otsutsuki clan as Orochimaru might have used the cells from God Tree to create him.
3 THEY ALREADY FAILED: Kabuto Yakushi
Kabuto Yakushi was the student of Orochimaru. He was inspired by Orochimaru's dedication to achieve immortality and learn all types of jutsu. After Sasuke "killed" Orochimaru, Kabuto took some his cells and infused them into his own.
With his former master's cells in him, Kabuto learned the Snake Sage Mode and it granted him enormous amount of chakra. Kabuto was powerful enough to hold off Itachi and Sasuke, but they managed to beat him in the end.
2 CAN SURPASS NARUTO: Kashin Koji
Next up on the list is Kashin Koji. He is an Inner from Kara. Koji is a walking enigma and the fans have come up with several theories regarding his identity with the most famous being that he is actually Jiraiya.
Despite being an inner member of Kara, Kashin Koji has no real intention to serve his leader, Jigen. Instead, he wants to get rid of him. If Kashin Koji beats Jigen, then it is possible that he may surpass Naruto.
1 THEY ALREADY FAILED: Madara Uchiha
The final character on the list is none other than Madara Uchiha. Throughout his life, he was second best to Hashirama, but during their last fight, he managed to get ahold of Hashirama's cells. Madara cultivated the cells and eventually awakened the Rinnegan.
He carefully planned several decades into the future and his plan actually came to fruition, and he successfully washed everyone away during the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, Madara was in for an unexpected shock when Naruto and Sasuke both received major powerups. Even at full power, Madara just couldn't cope with either of them.
