The Uchiha clan was once a large, extended family. Overnight, the clan went from being large only to have one member. The massacre of the large family left only Sasuke Uchiha alive. Sasuke then wanted to seek revenge on the brother who wiped out their clan. Sasuke, who was only a child, was left with many unanswered questions about the mysteries of his clan. Although Naruto fans learned more about the Uchiha clan over time, there may be things they still don't know.

10 They Have A Dress Code

Sasuke and Indra

The Uchiha were known for wearing high collared shirts. This fashion choice could be traced back to Indra Otsutsuki. Indra was the first Sharingan user and a founder of the Uchiha clan.

The Uchiha clan also took great pride in wearing their clan symbol on their backs. The symbol is based on a paper fan. The fan is a reference to the clan's love of fire jutsu and a reference to the fan used by Madara Uchiha when he fought.

9 They Use A Lot Of Fire-Type Ninjutsu

Sasuke Fireball Fire Ball Jutsu

Sasuke is often seen using the Fireball Jutsu. He had mastered this advanced jutsu at a young age. This jutsu was created by the Uchiha clan and only used by the manga clan, though non-Uchiha's are sometimes seen using it in the anime.

Every member of the Uchiha clan had to learn the Fireball Jutsu before they could be considered adults. The Uchiha clan was well-known for using fire jutsu. This jutsu was one of many fire jutsu used exclusively by the Uchiha clan.

8 Indra Created Their Ninjutsu

Indra Otsutsuki

The Uchiha ancestor, Indra, was the person who created ninjutsu. The fighting style was based on a peaceful study of chakra created by Indra's father. His father, the Sage of Six Paths, was ultimately disappointed with what his son did with his invention. Ninjutsu is one of the three main jutsu categories used in Naruto.

Ninjutsu is the most important type of jutsu. A combination of chakra and weaving hand signs is needed to craft ninjutsu. This jutsu was established by the Uchiha clan but spread out into the greater world.

7 Madara Uchiha

Madara was a clan leader during an incredibly important time of history. He was born a kind child, but the war with the Senju eventually corrupted him. Madara was incredibly skilled and eventually became the leader of his clan.

Unfortunately, Madara's clan would turn against him. Madara's could never overcome his hatred for the Senju. When he suggested a return to the old war, the rest of the Uchiha got mad at him. He left Konoha, angry at those who had rejected him.

6 The Senju War

A war between the Uchiha and Senju carried on for centuries. The war could be traced all the way back to Indra Otsutsuki. Indra's brother, Asura, was an ancestor of the Senju clan. The war between the brothers carried on through their clans and reincarnations.

Even when the two clans made peace, the war wasn't completely resolved. Madara, Indra's reincarnation, had manipulated events so that war continued. Peace was only truly established when Naruto and Sasuke, Indra and Asura's modern incarnations, agreed to a cease-fire.

5 They Had A Police Force

Naruto Konoha Uchiha Police Force

The Uchiha worked as a police force for the village they called home. They weren't given the position out of trust. The second Hokage made the Uchiha the village police so that he could keep an eye on them.

Mistrust for the Uchiha would continue to rear its head. The Uchiha were blamed for the village's attack that resulted in the death of the fourth Hokage and the destruction of much of the village. The village blamed the Uchiha, upsetting the powerful clan. The Uchiha began to plot against their village, leading to their massacre.

4 Secret Shrine

Naruto Uchiha Shrine

There was a secret room hidden in the Uchiha shrine. The room was used as a meeting place where they planned their rebellion against the village. The room was also home to some secret documents owned by the Uchiha. Basically, this is where the Uchiha clan housed their secrets.

Before the massacre, Sasuke Uchiha had no idea that the room existed. He was told about the room by his older brother, Itachi. Itachi hoped that Sasuke would use the information found in the shrine to improve his abilities.

3 Time Powers

Sasuke was a teenager when he discovered one of the greatest powers related to the Sharingan. Sasuke was reunited with his resurrected brother, Itachi, who explained the Uchiha's ability to manipulate time.

This power comes at a terrible price. In exchange for using it, the user is robbed of their eyesight.  Sasuke went a long time without knowing about this particular ability, leaving the possibility open that there are a great many things Sasuke still doesn't know about his powerful eyes. This ability is one of the Uchiha's forbidden jutsu.

2 They Would Marry Inside Their Own Clan

Member of the Uchiha clan would often marry within their own clan. This allowed the clan to keep the Sharingan's power among their clan's members. The clan's inner marrying is believed to strengthen the power of the Sharingan.

Izumi, Itachi's greatest friend, was only half-Uchiha. She was not considered an official Uchiha clan member because her father wasn't a clan member. She was also considered weaker because of her genetics. The theory is that a half-Uchiha can't fully master or use the Sharingan. If true, Sarada's DNA might provide a stumbling block for her in the future.

1 The Rebirth Of The Uchiha Clan

Boruto Naruto Shin Uchiha

Fans have long wondered how Sasuke might revitalize the Uchiha clan. The birth of his only daughter led people to wonder when Sasuke would finally have a son. A daughter could marry, join another clan, and led to the end of the clan.

The clan's rebirth could possibly come from Shin Uchiha. Shin is a series of multiple clones who were given the Sharingan. When Shin first appears in Boruto, he attacks Sasuke's only descendent. All the Shins are later redeemed and brought to live in Konoha. In the future, they might be able to revitalize the clan.
