The members of the Uchiha Clan have been among the strongest of shinobi for centuries. During the Warring States Era, they were even known to be one of the two greatest clans in existence. 10 The Sharingan Is Awakened Through Loss

The Uchiha Clan members are all extremely powerful compared to an average shinobi, and this is mostly due to their Sharingan. While the Sharingan is undoubtedly a great ability to have, the price to awaken it is steep. The Sharingan is awakened when a person suffers an intense emotion. For Itachi, it was the death of his comrades, and for Obito, it was the abduction of Rin. Furthermore, this eye only gets stronger through pain and loss, making it a double-edged sword.

9 Everyone Has Very High Expectations From The Uchiha

Another downside of being an Uchiha Clan member is that the name carries extremely high expectations with it. Although characters such as Itachi, Shisui, or even Madara managed to live up to it, others simply got crushed under it and struggled to live up to it. Obito Uchiha was never a genius like the others, and for him, living up to the Uchiha name was hard. Similarly, Sasuke was often compared to his brother, Itachi, and felt as if he was in his brother's shadow all the time.

8 The Uchiha Suffered From The Curse Of Hatred

The Uchiha Clan members were destined to get stronger through hate, and their visual prowess was what really benefitted from their hatred. This hate stems from the loss of love, usually someone very close to the person, and it manifests itself as the Mangekyo Sharingan. Sasuke Uchiha's eyes became as strong as they did thanks to all the pain and suffering he had to go through. He continued to grow stronger as he accepted more of the darkness.

The members of the Uchiha Clan are extremely powerful, which is why their eyes are highly sought after. The likes of Danzo had several eyes embedded into his arm, and even Obito Uchiha had several Sharingan in his possession to use for techniques such as the Izanagi.

The members of the Uchiha Clan went to great lengths to gain power. The clan was cursed to begin with, and gaining power was a necessity for them, especially in the times of the Warring States Era. It is believed that both Madara Uchiha and Izuna Uchiha killed their best friends to attain the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Similarly, Itachi Uchiha told Sasuke to kill his best friend if he wished to have the same eyes as him. While killing their best friends wasn't necessary to gain this power, it was believed that many members of the clan actually did it.

5 Some Uchiha Took The Eyes Of Their Siblings To Get Even Stronger

If witnessing the loss of a loved one to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan wasn't enough, some Uchiha went on to transplant the eyes of their siblings to gain even greater power. So far, only two Uchiha Clan members in Madara Uchiha and Sasuke Uchiha were confirmed to have done this. Madara transplanted Izuna Uchiha's eyes into him so he could gain access to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and avenge his death. Meanwhile, Sasuke took Itachi's eyes to awaken the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan in an attempt to gain enough power to destroy Konohagakure.

3 People Keep Their Distance From The Members Of The Uchiha Clan

The members of the Uchiha Clan are often seen in a different light from the rest in the world of Naruto. Due to the power of their Sharingan, most people keep their distance from the Uchiha. Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage of all people, even claimed that the Uchiha could never be trusted due to their Sharingan. Following Hashirama's death, the village ostracized the Uchiha continuously, and it eventually boiled down to a massacre of the entire clan.

2 The Uchiha Suffered Tremendous Loss Of Life In The Warring States Era

Being one of the two major clans during the Warring States Era, the Uchiha Clan constantly fought the Senju on the battlefield. Inevitably, this led to the loss of an astonishing number of lives, and once again, the clan was shown to have suffered immensely because they were perceived as threats. The remaining Uchiha met an even worse fate later on in the future when Itachi Uchiha and Obito Uchiha took it upon themselves to end the lives of their fellow clan members.

The Uchiha Clan met its end shortly after the events of the Third Great Ninja War when Fugaku Uchiha, its last leader, wanted to launch a coup and take over the village following years of harsh treatment and ostracization. Itachi Uchiha was ordered to annihilate his entire clan in one night, and in exchange, Sasuke Uchiha was spared. Seeking Obito's help, Itachi killed his clan, and the countless innocents and children fell just because they carried the Uchiha name.
