The Fourth Great Ninja War was started by Obito Uchiha, in collaboration with Kabuto Yakushi, in an attempt to steal the Eight and the Nine-Tailed Beasts in order to complete the project Tsuki no Me.
The war saw the rise of some of the greatest of shinobi to ever exist in the world of Naruto, along with some old legends showing off their experience as well. It was well and truly a tumultuous affair, finally put to an end by the combined effort of all the great nations of the world. With Kaguya Otsutsuki's defeat, a huge power shift took place and many of the shinobi from the young generation made their presence known. Here are the 10 strongest ninjas who fought in the Fourth Great Ninja War.
10 Tobirama Senju
Tobirama Senju was reanimated by Orochimaru, this time, close to his full power. Along with the other Hokage, Tobirama played quite a significant role in taking down Obito Uchiha as the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki.
His powers were decent enough to outsmart Obito on various occasions, although not greater than that of the Jinchūriki. Nonetheless, he proved his title of 'The Inventor' wasn't for nothing by showing off a barrage of techniques. He goes down as one of the strongest in the Fourth Great Ninja War.
9 Hiruzen Sarutobi
Once again, Kishimoto robbed us of the chance of seeing Hiruzen Sarutobi in his prime as he was reanimated as an old man once again. Prime Hiruzen would certainly be much higher up the list, but the old one wasn't nearly as powerful.
Hiruzen showed his skills when fighting Tobi's Wood Style Buddha statue all by himself and tearing through the God Tree with his Adamantine Staff.
8 Minato Namikaze
The Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, was probably the only Kage who, instead of being weaker than when alive, got stronger.
This was due to the fact that Minato gained the ability to access the Yin half of Kurama, and thus enter the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, just like Naruto. On top of that, Minato also displayed the ability to use Sage Mode, further cementing his position as one of the strongest in the war.
7 Hashirama Senju
Hashirama Senju didn't play much of an active role in the Fourth Great Ninja War, however, he was, undeniably one of the strongest to grace the battlefield.
Thanks to his Sage Mode and Wood Release, Hashirama was able to temporarily subdue the Ten-tails, which is a massive feat, no matter which way you look at it. What's more, Hashirama also fought Madara Uchiha, however, he lost the fight once Madara got access to his real body. Nonetheless, Hashirama was definitely stronger than those above him on this list.
6 Obito Uchiha
The first Ten-tails Jinchūriki in the Fourth Great Ninja War, Obito Uchiha saw to it that he was seen as God reincarnate. His power was massive enough to take on the entire shinobi alliance at once and had it not been for his deterring emotions, Obito would probably never have lost.
He wielded enough power to re-shape the whole world with his Nunoboko sword, which is just a fraction of what he was capable of. Ultimately, Obito Uchiha was defeated by none other than Naruto and his ideals.
5 Might Guy
Although Guy stepped into the war as just another shinobi, he stepped out as a legend of war. Not only did he contribute to victory, just like every other shinobi on the battlefield, but he took it upon himself to fight against Juubi Madara Uchiha when nobody else dared to move.
Guy, thanks to the power of the Eight Inner Gates, fought, overwhelmed, and nearly killed Madara Uchiha, which just goes to show how incredible his power truly was. As expected, he would've died after exhausting himself, but Naruto stepped in to save his life.
4 Madara Uchiha
Madara Uchiha's revival saw the Fourth Great Ninja War enter a phase of shock and excitement at the same time. Having acquired the power of the Rinnegan, Madara was stronger than ever before and he only went on to get better.
After absorbing all the Tailed Beasts, Madara Uchiha successfully transformed into the second Ten-Tails Jinchūriki in the war, Obito being the first. His powers were so great that even the previous Hokage, Naruto, and Sasuke together weren't able to take him on. Only after getting Six Paths Powers did Naruto and Sasuke get on his level.
3 Kakashi Hatake
Kakashi Hatake fought a hard battle during the Fourth Great Ninja War, taking on the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, among many other enemies. Towards the end, Kakashi got exceptionally strong, after getting the Six Paths chakra of Obito Uchiha, along with his dual Mangekyo Sharingan.
With its powers, Kakashi was nigh invincible. Even Kaguya Otsutsuki failed to land a hit on him, which just goes to show what level he was on, albeit only for a short while.
2 Sasuke Uchiha
The last Uchiha alive, Sasuke's road in the Fourth Great Ninja War was quite an interesting one. Not only did he have a change of heart and returned to the village but he also gained tremendous powers. His Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, along with the Rinnegan, was awakened during this war.
Furthermore, Sasuke got access to the Yin half of the Six Paths powers, using which he could fight even Madara Uchiha. After the war, Sasuke grew even stronger, surpassing even the likes of Madara Uchiha.
1 Naruto Uzumaki
Akin to Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki progressed by leaps and bounds during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Naruto managed to gain access to Kurama's powers, combine it with Sage Mode, and finally, gain the Six Paths Yang powers as well.
He also received the chakra of all the Tailed Beasts, which made him a pseudo-ten-tails Jinchūriki. His powers were great enough to overwhelm the likes of Madara Uchiha, and even Kaguya Otsutsuki at one point.
