Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series enjoyed quite a decent run over a course of fifteen years with Naruto Uzumaki, the main protagonist, finally achieving his goal of becoming the Hokage. With an incredibly vast story, it's no surprise that Naruto had some loose ends which made the fans scratch their heads at times.
With Boruto: Naruto Next Generations beginning its serialization in Jump shortly afterward, some of these burning questions were finally answered. However, some remain unanswered to date. Here are 5 questions from Naruto that Boruto: Naruto Next Generations answered, and 5 for which we still need an explanation.
10 Answered: Who Is the Third Otsutsuki?
One of the biggest questions that arose from Kaguya Otsutsuki's own little arc in the Naruto: Shippuden anime was regarding the Otsutsuki clan. According to what was presented to us, Kaguya feared the arrival of a few Otsutsuki clan members. These included the likes of Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and Kinshiki Otsutsuki, along with a mysterious third member.
The Boruto anime saw to it that the question was answered, and it turned out the third member of the group was Urashiki Otsutsuki. Unlike the other two members, Urashiki Otsutsuki is still alive and a big threat to those living on Earth.
9 Unanswered: Where Did Naruto's Truth-Seeking Balls Go?
During the Fourth Great Ninja War in Naruto Shippuden, Naruto Uzumaki gained the ability to use 9 Truth-Seeking Balls thanks to the power granted to him by Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Interestingly, he either lost or used all but three of these in the war, and even the remaining three ended up vanishing once the war was over.
Ever since then, Naruto Uzumaki has never used them again, or maybe Kishimoto just forgot about them. Even the ones that he lost are in Kaguya's dimension, which Sasuke can easily access. Being such an incredibly powerful weapon, it makes one wonder why Naruto hasn't retrieved the orbs yet.
8 Answered: Does Naruto Still Have Six Paths Sage Mode?
By gaining the Six Paths Yang Chakra, along with the power of all the nine Tailed Beasts, Naruto awoke a power known as the Six Paths Sage Mode, which he used extensively during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Surprisingly, the sequel to the show, The Last: Naruto The Movie, didn't see Naruto use this power.
Consequently, fans wondered whether Naruto had lost the ability to use this power again or if he just didn't use it against Toneri Otsutsuki. In Boruto, Naruto resorted to using the Six Paths Sage Mode once again when he clashed with Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and then later, the members of the Kara organization.
7 Unanswered: How Did Hagoromo Otsutsuki Die?
Hagoromo Otsutsuki is, undoubtedly, one of the strongest characters in the entire Naruto series, possessing powers akin to a god. Hagoromo didn't need food, water, or even sleep to survive. What's more, he had seemingly endless stamina, as he fought his mother for months without tiring. Yet, he fell sick and died.
This happened despite the fact that Hagoromo was a user of the Creation of All Things Technique, which allowed him to create life itself. As such, he could've simply avoided death akin to how Izanagi users do it. Why Hagoromo chose to die instead, or if he was forced to die, is something that we'll never know.
6 Answered: What Was Kaguya Afraid Of?
Kaguya Otsutsuki's arc explained everything about her to us, from how she came to earth to how she rose to power. In her flashback, it was revealed that Kaguya Otsutsuki feared the arrival of a bunch of Otsutsuki clan members who would eventually hunt her down. Shockingly, the Naruto series never answered this question to us.
Fans turned to Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in their search for an explanation, and it delivered. From what we know, Kaguya feared Kinshiki, Momoshiki, and Urashiki Otsutsuki's arrival on Earth. To combat them, she started creating the White Zetsu army.
5 Unanswered: Where Did Hashirama Learn Sage Mode From?
Hashirama Senju was Konohagakure's First Hokage and, undoubtedly, one of the strongest known characters in the entire series. A huge chunk of his power came from his ability to use Sage Mode. As seen in the series, the Sage Mode can be learned from one of the Three Sage Areas.
Certainly, Hashirama didn't learn this technique from either Mount Myoboku, or Ryuchi Cave, which leads the fans to believe that he got from training in the Shikkotsu Forest. Unfortunately, this question continues to remain a mystery to date, with no answer having been provided in the Boruto anime either.
4 Answered: Where Was Sasuke After the War?
Thanks to Naruto and Kakashi's efforts, Sasuke Uchiha was pardoned after the Fourth Great Ninja War. Towards the end of the series, Sasuke went on a journey of redemption, however, where exactly he went and what he did on most of his journeys was never revealed to fans.
Once again, the Boruto series came to the rescue of fans wondering about this, as we found out that Sasuke was actually tracking down Kaguya Otsutsuki's trails. Eventually, this led him to Kinshiki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki's location on an unknown planet.
3 Unanswered: Where Does the Otsutsuki Clan Live?
One of the biggest questions that every fan of the Naruto series has on their minds right now is regarding the whereabouts of the Otsutsuki clan. The first Otsutsuki in the series to have been introduced was the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Soon, characters like Kaguya Otsutsuki made their introduction, as well.
It is a known fact that the Otsutsuki clan hunt in pairs, but questions regarding who sends them out on missions or where they come from remain unanswered to date. Hopefully, the Boruto series will clear these up for us in the future.
2 Answered: Orochimaru's Plan
Orochimaru's obsession with learning all the techniques and gaining Sasuke's body continued throughout the entirety of Naruto. In the final arc of the series, he seemed to have mended his ways and wasn't interested in gaining Sasuke's body anymore. However, a person as powerful as Orochimaru had to have a plan, according to the fans.
In Boruto, Orochimaru was revealed to have created several synthetic humans, one of which is Mitsuki. Apparently, Orochimaru created perfect beings who can succeed where he failed, thus giving himself a completely new goal.
1 Unanswered: Is There An Otsutsuki King?
The Otsutsuki clan has played a great role in the Naruto series already, and, by the looks of it, they'll be even more prominent towards the end of the Boruto series. So far, about 6 members of this clan have been seen originating from a mysterious planet in space.
From the looks of it, the Otsutsuki clan members are all sent on missions by a higher authority, which had led the fans to believe that there is an Otsutsuki King. Unfortunately, the person hasn't been revealed in the series so far, and it'll continue to remain a mystery for the time being.
