Few characters in Naruto have had a more troubled childhood than Sasuke Uchiha. The prodigious Uchiha was subject to an insane amount of torture by his elder brother, Itachi Uchiha. This event was a defining moment in Sasuke's life and it shaped him as a character.

Sasuke grew up with the sole purpose of killing Itachi, which was really messed up, but when the truth about Itachi's past was revealed, it hit Sasuke like a thunderbolt and he had a mental breakdown. This proved to be the main factor in Sasuke doing a lot of wrong things.

Sasuke was power-hungry and he would do anything to gain more power. When he saw Naruto using a new jutsu, he went completely berserk and without a care in the world challenged Naruto to a fight.

Unsurprisingly, Naruto went to the roof to fight Sasuke. Both Naruto and Sasuke readied their signature moves, and if they had been allowed to continue, it would have ended in a disaster. Luckily, Kakashi arrived at the right time and deflected their attacks.

Sasuke's past is filled with angst, but sometimes he would think that he's the only person with a grim past. While Sasuke was trying to leave the Hidden Leaf, Kakashi caught him, and Sasuke immediately began to mock Kakashi.

Sasuke boldly claimed that Kakashi could never understand his pain as he never lost a loved one, but Sasuke couldn't have more wrong. Kakashi's past is equally tragic if not more tragic than Sasuke, and saying something like that without knowing the full story is very mean.

Many fans might have ambivalent feelings about this entry. It was revealed very early on that Sakura loved Sasuke and her only desire was to be with him, however, Sasuke was too preoccupied with the thoughts of killing his brother, and didn't pay heed to her.

Sasuke wasn't kind to Sakura, in fact, he left rejected her love and left the village. On another occasion, he attacked Sakura intending to kill her, and after defeating Kaguya, he put Sakura under genjutsu.

7 Used Karin To Kill Danzo

The truth about Itachi's past hit Sasuke shook Sasuke and he found it incredibly difficult to avoid a mental breakdown. After Sasuke managed to regain his composure, he set out with only one goal in his head—to destroy the Hidden Leaf.

One of Sasuke's victims was the acting Hokage, Danzo Shimura. Sasuke wanted to kill Danzo and he was willing to go to any lengths to do it. When Danzo took Karin hostage, Sasuke didn't even think twice before attacking Karin. It remains one of the darkest moments in the series.

Naruto and Sasuke were close friends, and deep down Sasuke knew it, so he thought of getting rid of Naruto. After the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke challenged Naruto to one last fight which would decide the future Hokage of the Hidden Leaf.

The fight between the two was really intense, and it was clear that Sasuke was out for blood. He was ready to kill Naruto, but Naruto had no intention of killing his friend. The fight concluded with Naruto and Sasuke blowing off each other's hands.

Sasuke's first big step towards avenging his brother was attacking the Five Kage Summit, which was taking place in the Land of Iron. He slaughtered many samurai while en route to the room where the meeting was being held.

Sasuke had a serious battle with Lighting A, the Fourth Raikage. This was an outrageous act and it could've caused great tension between the Hidden Leaf and the Hidden Cloud. In the fight, the Raikage lost his left arm, and it indirectly affected Naruto who was beaten up by Cloud ninjas.

4 Planned To Kill The Five Kage

Sasuke attacked the Five Kage Summit, where he injured the Raikage and killed Danzo. Many fans believed that he wouldn't repeat such a mistake ever again, but they couldn't have been more wrong.

After Kaguya was sealed, Sasuke shocked everyone by revealing his plan of killing the current Kage. He wanted to kill them and lead the world on his own. Thankfully, Naruto stood in his way and defeated him.

3 Went To Orochimaru For Help

Sasuke's desperation for power knew no bounds. He was willing to exchange his soul with the devil for the sake of gaining more power, so when Orochimaru came calling with the promise of more power, Sasuke couldn't resist.

Without thinking twice, Sasuke decided to abandon the Hidden Leaf. He left behind his friends just to become more powerful, and once he got what he wanted from Orochimaru, Sasuke killed him.

2 Almost Killed His Summoning

Most ninjas in Naruto have a good relationship with their summonings, with the sole exception of Sasuke. On his journey to find and kill Itachi, Sasuke came across Deidara, a member of Akatsuki. Deidara didn't need to be provoked twice considering his hatred for the Uchiha.

Immediately, the Akatsuki member began to attack Sasuke. Sasuke could sense that he was in trouble due to Deidara's Explosion Release, which is a Kekkei Genkai. As the fight continued, Deidara grew more desperate and decided to kill himself and Sasuke. Sasuke summoned Manda and used it to protect himself from the blast.

After Itachi's death, Obito knew that Sasuke would vulnerable to his influence, so he decided to tell Sasuke the real truth about Itachi. Sasuke was in total disbelief and swore to avenge his brother.

Obito's offered him to join the Akatsuki and Sasuke accepted. Sasuke didn't even think for a second about the repercussions of his actions. With the fragment of the Eight-Tails, Obito was able to bring back the Ten-Tails, which eventually led to the deaths of many ninjas.
