Rock Lee is one of Naruto's most beloved characters, standing out from the rest of his peers for many of his sublime qualities. Instead of being reliant on his lineage, a Jinchuriki, or even Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, he wins his battles with sheer uncompromising grit and determination.RELATED: Naruto: 5 Times Naruto Was Wrong (& 5 Times He Was Smarter Than We Thought He Was)Because of this, Lee has earned a special place in the hearts of many fans, some even arguing that he was the embodiment of perseverance more than Naruto himself. They have created a plethora of brilliant artworks to celebrate Lee, proving definitively that hard work is much more commendable than natural talent.

10 Opening The Gates

Youngboyotaku101 depicts that while Rock Lee may be a manageable opponent in his base form, each gate he unlocks renders him a more serious threat. They remove the natural restrictions the body imposes on itself, with the final threshold's unbarring able to put its user on par with the likes of Madara Uchiha.

While Lee may never have pushed himself to this extent, his reckless usage of the gates in his Chunin Exam fight against Gaara exhausted him and left him vulnerable to defeat. If Guy hadn't intervened, he might have died.

9 A Smoldering Stare

MaksManga uses a black and white color combination to magnify Lee's already iconic qualities. It draws attention to his thick eyebrows and steely eyes, especially the challenging stare written across his expression (similar to the one he wore in his confrontation against the Sound ninja).

One detail of the art which is exceptionally clever is the way Lee's hair was drawn. It synthesizes his black bangs and crown with the intermittent light, not only translating the way he was drawn from the show into this piece but also entailing the scene the image occurs in.

8 Peak Of Youth

Artipelago demonstrates the vitality inherent to Rock Lee's character. With a bright smile and an inexorable attitude, he leaps into danger even after being recently hospitalized.

This is specifically true with the technique Lee poses here. It is one of the attacks he launched against Kimimaro, smashing the heel of his foot into the crown of his foe's skull. Though the Green Beast would ironically need Gaara's help to defeat one of Orochimaru's most powerful lieutenants, he was able to buy Naruto the time he needed to catch up with Sasuke and confront him.

7 Konoha Peace

The world of Naruto is often fraught with peril. Even at a young age, Rock Lee was thrust into grave danger on numerous occasions as he worked to become a military operative to the nation of Konoha.

However, it is not entirely austere. When the smoke clears and the dust settles, the moments of peace audiences find him and the other ninja in are heartwarming. MajoRaccoon depicts such an image, with birthday delights scattered about as the Taijutsu master spends his special day with the one he loves most.

6 Setting A Good Example

A recurring theme of the Boruto series is the passing of the torch to the next generation. Similarly, the offspring of the prior series's shinobi have different struggles than those of their predecessors, providing an opportunity for fresh and exciting stories to be told.

Pungpp shows Rock Lee in his most natural element: Working out. However, this time he has an audience to respect his effort, and more importantly, a son to impress. With such high expectations, the Green Beast has no choice but to push himself even more than ever before.

5 Ready For Anything

SayWhaaaaat_ demonstrates that as necessary as training might be, it means nothing without application. This image is heavily contingent on the earthy colors of Lee's uniform, contrasting them to the lightness of his features.

One interesting artistic choice is that the sash Rock Lee wears does not bear the Leaf's insignia, nor is it red as shown in the anime. It is possible that this was a deliberate choice so the sash does not clash too dramatically with the rest of his outfit, as well as to bring attention to more important features (such as Lee's hands and face).

4 Critical Moment

Musetap depicts arguably Rock Lee's most defining fight against Gaara of the Sand. With his bandages unleashed and used as makeshift grapples, Lee plunged his opponent into the ground, cracking his head and presumably putting his enemy out of commission.

Unfortunately, Lee could not have anticipated that Gaara's sand armor would protect him. With his body exhausted but unwilling to surrender, the Jinchuriki took his time toying with the one who almost grievously wounded him, gradually ripping Lee apart at his leisure.

3 Optimism

Smudgeandfrank exemplifies qualities of Rock Lee which make him praiseworthy not exclusively as a warrior but also as an individual. He is upbeat, cheerful, chivalrous, and as fair and sportsmanlike as can be expected of any upright shinobi.

These traits are reflected in this image by the slight, confident smile Lee meets the viewer with. It is similar to the one Lee gave Sakura after he promised to protect her, albeit with more conviction. It would later prove a sentiment Lee followed through on, defending her at the cost of his own safety and nearly his life.

2 Only A Flesh Wound

Kohaku-Art presents a Rock Lee braced for battle. With his face considerably injured – from a thin trickle of blood crossing the bridge of his nose to gashes across his cheeks and mouth – one might assume he was on the losing end of a fight.

While this might be momentarily true, Lee's resolve is one of his greatest weapons, able to turn the tide of the battle in his favor just as expediently. This was proven when Lee fought an identical copy of himself and defeated it merely be deciding to push his limits further.

1 Dynamic Entry

Rock Lee bolts into action with this piece by usamiyori, his feet reeled back and prepared for a devastating blow. The light background and bright, contrasting colors from his outfit against his ankle weights and sash prove an authentically appropriate "dynamic entry."

Given Lee's jovial, almost silly expression, it's likely this is a reference to his fight against Kimimaro, where the former became inebriated in the middle of the battle. Though this strategy might be foolhardy, Lee somehow managed to weaponize his opponent's incredulity against him.
