Kurama, also known as the Nine-Tails, is an overpowered Tailed Beast in the Naruto world. This entity was created by Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the legendary Sage of Six Paths and Kaguya Otsutsuki's eldest son. Among all the Tailed Beasts, Kurama is known to be the strongest — and the power of the Nine-Tails is given to a Jinchuriki who manages to gain complete control over it and form a bond in the process.

Naruto Uzumaki, being the perfect Jinchuriki of Kurama, can use several forms of the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, some of which have made him the strongest human, and Hokage, to ever live. Although there are six Nine-Tails Chakra Modes, some of them are naturally going to be more powerful than others. Here are all the modes used by the titular hero of Naruto.

Naruto has access to multiple abilities, the most notable of which is the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. 6 Nine-Tails Chakra Mode Is The First Major Naruto Transformation

The Nine-Tails Chakra Mode is the first proper Nine-Tails transformation that Naruto Uzumaki received. This form was accessible to him after accepting his inner self and then fighting against the Nine-Tails within his body. Thanks to Kushina Uzumaki and Killer Bee, Naruto managed to defeat the Nine-Tails and take its chakra.

Because of this, he did not immediately get the full extent of Kurama's powers, although he could exploit its teeming chakra. Naruto also gained incredible speed and the ability to sense negative emotions. However, despite all that, the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode remains the weakest Nine-Tails transformation on this list. In fact, it was quickly outclassed by a different form soon after he mastered it. Then again, it was the first and longest form he used during the Great Ninja War.

5 Kurama Chakra Mode Requires A Perfect Bond With Kurama

After forming a perfect bond with Kurama and befriending it, Naruto was able to access the full power of Kurama and thus gained access to Kurama Chakra Mode. This form made him stronger than any other Tailed Beast. When Naruto used the Kurama Chakra Mode, he could overwhelm five Tailed Beasts at once, further demonstrating that he was meant to be the protagonist of his story.

The coordination between Naruto and Kurama improved further with time, strengthening their already formidable bond. The Kurama Chakra Mode soon became Naruto's go-to form for smaller fights. At full power, Naruto could hold his own against Obito Uchiha, who was enhanced with Hashirama's cells and Madara's Rinnegan. In addition, Naruto was capable of sharing his chakra with allies, like when Hinata Hyuga needed to use the Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm.

4 Tailed Beast Mode Manifests The Nine-Tails' Full Appearance

Ever since Naruto and Kurama formed a bond with each other, he gained access to the Tailed Beast Mode. Using this form, Naruto takes on the Nine-Tails' full appearance and can use it to fight on his behalf. This form of Naruto allows him to fight larger targets more efficiently and gives him access to abilities such as the Tailed Beast Ball, one of Naruto's strongest Jutsu.

Its chakra also has healing properties, and anyone within the cloak can heal from serious injuries. Without a doubt, the Tailed Beast Mode is ferocious and can defeat most people within a matter of seconds. If this isn't overpowered enough, Naruto can also exploit the Shadow Clone and Rasengan techniques while nestled within "Kurama's" head. In fact, Kurama gains the ability to speak when Naruto uses the Tailed Beast Mode.

3 Six Paths Sage Mode Allowed Naruto To Fight Madara Easily

The Six Paths Sage Mode is a power that was accessible to Naruto Uzumaki after he received the Six Paths chakra from Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Along with this, every Tailed Beast offered a portion of their chakra to Naruto. Using the combined chakra powers of Kurama and the Six Paths sage, Naruto finally obtained the Six Paths Sage Mode.

This form was tremendously powerful and allowed Naruto to fight Madara Uchiha without much trouble. As the fight continued, Naruto's control over the Six Paths Sage Mode improved quite a lot, and he even managed to fight on par with Kaguya Otsutsuki for quite some time. Using this ability in his adulthood, Naruto became powerful enough to battle Momoshiki Otsutsuki. That said, there are a couple of Naruto forms stronger than the Six Paths Sage Mode.

2 Asura Kurama Mode Is As Strong As Sasuke's Complete Body — Susanoo

Asura Kurama Mode is a type of the Tailed Beast transformation, albeit powered up by the use of Six Paths Sage chakra along with the Shadow Clones technique. To access this form, Naruto collects a huge amount of natural energy and then merges two Kurama clones with his own, creating a three-headed and six-armed battle avatar in the process.

This form of his greatly resembles the battle avatar of Asura Otsutsuki and is thus known as Asura Kurama Mode. Naruto uses this Six Paths power against Sasuke Uchiha in their final fight. Its power, particularly the Six Paths: Ultra-Big Ball Rasenshuriken, was so deadly that it destroyed the Valley of the End after clashing with Sasuke. Even the Susanoo would find it extremely difficult to overwhelm the Asura Kurama Mode.

1 Baryon Mode Is The Strongest Of All Naruto Transformations

Baryon Mode is Naruto's latest power-up that was unleashed against Isshiki Otsutsuki for the very first time in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This form makes exclusive usage of Kurama's and Naruto's chakra, except in a different way than before. While most forms give him enough chakra to boost his power, this form takes chakra from both Naruto and Kurama to be used as raw materials, similar to the concept of nuclear fusion in physics.

The end product is a much greater, but temporary, power that puts Naruto Uzumaki on a level above that of Isshiki Otsutsuki and makes him the strongest character in the entire story. Any blow from Baryon Mode zaps the lifespan of other people. The only drawback is that Naruto's lifespan is also shortened tremendously. It was stated that he could potentially die while using it, which shows how dangerous the Baryon Mode can be. Overall, the Baryon Mode is the most powerful Naruto mode in the story.
