Naruto is a long-running shonen action series taking place in a world where ninjas can wield supernatural jutsu and special techniques in battle. This leads to some truly unique and memorable fight scenes in the series. Some Naruto battles are fairly straightforward martial arts duels, but others are something else entirely.

Naruto is famed for featuring countless unique fight scenes where the jutsu, the stakes, and even the terrain are memorable. Some fights ended very differently than how most fans expected. These characters make truly unique and creative use of their powers. Unsurprisingly, Naruto's most unique fights rank among its best fights, too.

10 Naruto Uzumaki & Sasuke Uchiha Vs Haku

Sasuke Protects Naruto From Thousand Needles Of Death

The Land of Waves story arc was a fairly short one early in the story of Naruto, but it did establish many fundamentals of the series' combat system, including the existence of kekkei genkai, or bloodline techniques. Haku is a rogue ninja who has a kekkei genkai based on ice crystal mirrors.

This kekkei genkai seems fairly weak compared to later ones in Naruto, but it still ranks among the most unique. During his fight, Haku used this ice crystal array to throw countless needles at both Sasuke and Naruto. Even now, many years later, this is a memorable fight — especially since Kurama's chakra made its first appearance here.

9 Team 7 Vs Kaguya Otsutsuki

Team 7 Attacks Kaguya together in Naruto

One of the final fights in the entire Naruto series pitted the reunited Team 7 against the mother of all chakra — the moon princess Kaguya Otsutsuki herself. She ranks among Naruto's most powerful characters. She is an extraterrestrial being who ate a chakra fruit, meaning she is even stronger than Madara Uchiha himself.

Kaguya is unlike anything to appear in the original Naruto and that made this a fight to remember. Despite that, Team 7 fought back with conventional shonen "power of friendship" and even the sexy jutsu to claim victory. This contrasts sharply with Kaguya's aloof attitude — she did not expect a reverse harem to appear out of thin air.

8 Team 7 Vs Obito Uchiha

Kakashi Obito Kaumi Dimension Fight

For a time, the masked Obito Uchiha passed himself off as Madara, but that facade didn't last. At one point, Obito fought Team 7 on Madara's behalf and he made good use of the Kamui, a teleportation ability based on his Mangekyo Sharingan. This is a jutsu unlike any other.

Obito has always been using the Kamui, usually to make attacks seemingly pass right through him. In this fight, he used the Kamui to its fullest extent and teleported people all over the place. Obito even made use of the Ten-Tails for added firepower.

7 Sasuke Uchiha Vs Kage Summit

Sasuke vs Raikage

Sasuke Uchiha started taking orders from Obito — who was posing as Madara at the time — and Sasuke invaded the Land of Iron with his team. The mission was to attack the five Kage who were in the middle of a summit. Sasuke proceeded despite being outnumbered.

Sasuke went up against the five Kage and their diverse jutsu, from the Tsuchikage's particle jutsu to the Raikage's brutal lightning-enhanced taijutsu. This was a rough but colorful fight sequence, and eventually, Sasuke had to withdraw.

6 Sasuke Uchiha Vs Itachi Uchiha

Itachi vs Sasuke In Naruto

Sasuke had been plotting Itachi's demise for years on end: it was his life's goal to avenge his clan. The two brothers had a brief clash not long after the Konoha Crush event and Itachi broke Sasuke's wrist and kicked him around. Later, in Shippuden, things were different.

Itachi and Sasuke made brilliant use of genjutsu and their Sharingans. Itachi even unveiled the mighty Susanoo, one of the Mangekyo Sharingan's finest techniques. Sasuke used a thunderbolt to power up in this unique fight and in the end, Itachi allowed himself to die for his brother's sake.

5 Chiyo & Sakura Haruno Vs Sasori Of The Red Sand

At first, Gaara's brother Kankuro was unique for being a puppet wielder in battle and that made Kankuro stand out in the chunin exam story arc. Then, early in Shippuden, another puppet master appeared — the deadly Sasori of the Akatsuki. But, there was another: the elderly Chiyo.

Chiyo used Sakura as a living puppet against Sasori in this remarkable battle and it was a high point for Sakura's ninja career. This battle stands out for being a puppet-vs-puppet clash and in the end, Sakura demolished Sasori's puppet body and claimed victory.

4 Rock Lee Vs Gaara Of The Sand

The chunin exam featured one of Naruto's most memorable and thrilling fights of all, pitting the taijutsu expert Rock Lee against the sand-wielding Gaara, who was a villain at the time. This fight is a classic example of Naruto's theme of "hard work vs talent.

Rock Lee used taijutsu alone to take on Gaara's sand and Rock Lee came impressively close to victory despite the formidable odds he faced. He even opened one of the eight Gates for added power, but even that wasn't enough. Despite being knocked out, Rock Lee actually stood back up as though to continue the fight.

3 Shikamaru's Team Vs Kakuzu & Hidan

Kakuzu and Hidan didn't get along that well, but they did fight together against a squad of Leaf ninjas in Shippuden and these two villains share an immortality theme. Conventional attacks couldn't kill either of them, but Shikamaru the tactical genius was confident he could win.

This fight stands out thanks to its immortal villains. On that day, Hidan and Kakuzu were both shown that so-called immortality is overrated. Hidan was buried alive and Kakuzu was blown apart with Naruto's brand-new Rasengan technique.

2 Shikamaru Nara Vs Temari

shikamaru vs temari chunin

Shikamaru is a ninja unlike any other; his best friend Choji and his mentor Asuma Sarutobi both know it. Soon before Orochimaru struck, Shikamaru went up against Temari in the chunin exam's final phase; he used shadows to control his wind-slinging foe.

Temari is a fairly smart ninja, but she couldn't outpace Shikamaru's chess-like thinking and she was soon caught in Shikamaru's shadow. It looked like Shikamaru had won, but then he shocked everyone except Choji and Asuma when he surrendered instead.

1 Kinkaku & Ginkaku Vs Darui

Kinkaku and Ginkaku Fight Using The Treasured Tools Of The Six Paths, Naruto Shippuden

The brothers Kinkaku and Ginkaku were resurrected by Kabuto Yakushi during the Fourth Great Shinobi War and they had some bizarre techniques at their disposal. These brothers can capture people who speak their most preferred word — Darui's team learned that the hard way.

Speaking that word can cause a person to get sucked right into a giant gourd, but remaining silent has a similar effect, meaning it's difficult to avoid this technique. Darui was about to get captured when he recited some apologies to his friends, which changed his most common word and thus foiled the jutsu. This is totally unlike anything else in Naruto.
