The world of Naruto has seen four major wars break out to date, all due to different circumstances, and each one of them seeing the rise of some of the greatest shinobi that we know today. Although countless shinobi fought against each other in the Great Ninja Wars, only a few gained a reputation and even fewer became known as war heroes.

These ninjas were influential in the outcome of the wars and they played a significant role in building the peace that the ninja world knows today. Here are 10 legendary heroes from Naruto, ranked according to how strong they are.

10 Tsunade Senju

Tsunade Senju was one of the students of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. Being a prodigious Kunoichi, it didn't take her long to make name for herself and the Second Great Ninja War saw to it that she achieved great fame.

Tsunade Senju was extremely influential in this particular war, and she became known as one of the Legendary Sannin of the Leaf. Thanks to her achievements, thousands of lives were saved and she also managed to counter Chiyo's poisons, establishing the importance of a medical ninja in the process.

9 Orochimaru

Another one of the Legendary Sannin, Orochimaru was considered to be a generational talent right from when he was a kid. His skills as a ninja were immense, and the fact that he idolized Hiruzen Sarutobi strengthened his ambition even further.

Orochimaru went on to make great name for himself during the Second Great Ninja War, just like the other members of the Legendary Sannin. Unlike Tsunade, he doesn't have any particular achievements, but he was equally involved in the fight against the legendary Hanzo of the Salamander. Undoubtedly, Orochimaru became a hero in this war.

8 Jiraiya

Just like Orochimaru and Tsunade, Jiraiya served as a member of the Legendary Sannin as well. Although he wasn't as bright as Orochimaru, along the way, Jiraiya became a master of shinobi arts as well.

Jiraiya is known to have fought against Hanzo during the Second Great Ninja War and survive, earning the praise of the legendary shinobi along the way. Like the other members of Team Hiruzen, Jiraiya came to be known as a war hero after the conclusion of the Ninja War. In terms of power, he certainly has the edge over the other two, thanks to his Sage Mode, which is why Jiraiya takes the 8th spot on this list.

7 Third Raikage

One of Kumogakure's strongest ever shinobi, if not the strongest, the Third Raikage led the village in the Third Great Ninja War where he also ended up losing his life. In a legendary manner, he is said to have fought thousands of shinobi alone for 3 days and nights until the shinobi of his village were away to safety.

It isn't known how exactly he died, but it is speculated to have happened due to him running out of chakra in the said battle. In any case, his name was added to the legends who proved their worth in the Ninja Wars in the world of Naruto.

6 Tobirama Senju

Konohagakure's Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju is one of the strongest known shinobi in the history of the village. After the death of Hashirama, Tobirama took the responsibility of leading the village in the First Great Ninja War by himself.

Surprisingly, he ended up dying in the very same war, using himself as a decoy to allow his students to escape to safety. It is said that Tobirama Senju clashed against Kinkaku and Ginkaku and ended up losing his life in the fight.

5 Minato Namikaze

Konohagakure's Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze was a student of Jiraiya once, according to whom the young ninja was a shinobi like no other. Although Minato was just a Jonin when he fought in the Third Great Ninja War, he was primarily responsible for the war coming to an end.

According to the legends, Minato Namikaze took on a 1000 shinobi all by himself in this war, all without even breaking a sweat. It was right after this war that Minato was chosen as one of the candidates for the spot of the Fourth Hokage, a seat which he eventually grabbed.

4 Might Guy

Might Guy, also known as Konoha's Noble Green Beast, fought valiantly in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Not only did he fight the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist in the war but he also clashed against Madara Uchiha and overwhelmed him in battle.

Guy sacrificed his life to protect the next generation of shinobi from the horrors of war and had it not been for Naruto Uzumaki, he would've died due to opening the Eighth Gate of Death. Thankfully, he is alive and has earned the title of a legendary shinobi in the years that followed.

3 Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi is the youngest known Chunin, and probably even Jonin, in the world of Naruto which just goes to show that he was always destined for greatness. He took part in two Ninja Wars, the Third Great Ninja War, and the Fourth Great Ninja War.

He famously earned the moniker of "Kakashi of the Sharingan" during the Third Great Ninja War and the fourth one saw him rise to the status of a legend by helping to defeat Kaguya Otsutsuki. Not only did Kakashi help to defeat Kaguya, but he also played a massive role in bringing peace to the world. Following the war, he became the Sixth Hokage of Konohagakure.

2 Sasuke Uchiha

One of the strongest known Naruto characters ever, Sasuke Uchiha's journey saw him enter the battlefield during the Fourth Great Ninja War against the Akatsuki. Although he returned to the village, his goals of bringing about a revolution were still twisted, but thankfully, he was stopped by Naruto Uzumaki later.

Nonetheless, Sasuke played a huge role in the war and helped defeat Kaguya Otsutsuki. Thanks to him, the Infinite Tsukuyomi ended and humanity was saved from the illusion that Madara Uchiha had cast on them. After the war, Sasuke Uchiha was pardoned for his crimes due to the fact that he was partially responsible for humanity being alive.

1 Naruto Uzumaki

Quite possibly the biggest known war hero in the series, Naruto Uzumaki took part in the 4th Great Ninja War and did incredibly well to lead the alliance while he was at it. He fought the reanimated Kage and clashed against Obito Uchiha and his Tailed Beasts later on.

Furthermore, after gaining Six Paths Powers, Naruto even fought Madara Uchiha and helped seal Kaguya Otsutsuki away. After his fight against Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto helped to free humanity from Infinite Tsukuyomi, earning the title of a legend in the process.
