Konohamaru Sarutobi is one of Hidden Leaf Village's brightest shinobi who is currently serving as an elite Jonin. As Naruto Uzumaki's apprentice, Konohamaru aims to be the next Hokage of the village and trains rigorously for that cause. On his long journey from Naruto to Boruto, he's managed to become a dependable ninja and someone who others rely on in times of peril.

Thanks to his incredible skill and keen intellect as a jonin, he's been made the leader of Team 7 which includes Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Mitsuki. Here are ten things that you probably didn't know about Konohamaru Sarutobi.

10 His Name

Hiruzen Sarutobi in his prime training the Legendary Sannin in Naruto.

Konohamaru Sarutobi was christened by none other than his grandfather, Hiruzen Sarutobi, who also served as the Third and the longest-reigning Hokage of the village. Hiruzen named him after the thing that he treasured the most, and that was the village of Konoha.

To Hiruzen, everyone in the village was his family, yet Konohamaru was doubly special to him as he cherished his grandson. Over the years, Konohamaru has made sure to carry the spirit that his grandfather once possessed and he leads the next generation with a similar spirit.

9 Konohamaru's Parents

Throughout the majority of Naruto, Konohamaru's parents weren't revealed. Some fans even went on to assume that they died when he was a kid. While the reason behind this information being sidelined isn't known, it was later mentioned that he was, in fact, raised by both of them and they served as some of the most prominent members of Konoha Anbu.

As such, the entirety of the Sarutobi clan that we know features some of the most powerful shinobi, with Konohamaru being one of the latest members to take up the torch that his parents, and Hiruzen before them once carried.

8 Hokage Dream

Just like Naruto Uzumaki, Konohamaru Sarutobi aims to become the Hokage of the village at some point. During his childhood, Konohamaru didn't like the idea of Hiruzen serving as the Hokage for various reasons. He wasn't acknowledged by anyone because of his grandfather being the Hokage, and added to that was the fact that Hiruzen treated him just like he treated everyone else.

His idea of what a Hokage is seems to have changed over the years thanks to his upbringing. Konohamaru's character has developed tremendously as he's gone from being someone who once hated the Hokage to someone who wants to take over the same role for himself now.

7 Will of Fire

Like most shinobi in Konoha, Konohamaru strongly believes in the Will of Fire, which states that every single person living in the village is family, be it someone who is a blood relative or not. Hiruzen Sarutobi took over these ideals from his teachers, Tobirama and Hashirama, and passed it on to the next generation.

Although Konohamaru struggled to understand it initially, much like his uncle Asuma, he seems to have grasped the understanding behind it as an adult. Often, he shows shades of his grandfather, which further strengthens his drive to become the Hokage.

6 Like Boruto

Konohamaru Sarutobi is the leader of Team 7 which includes Boruto Uzumaki, the son of the Seventh Hokage. In the initial phase of the story, Boruto was often seen as a rebel child who hated the idea of Naruto being Hokage. Since Naruto was away most of the time, Boruto couldn't understand the reasoning behind it, even more so when he couldn't attend important events like Himawari's birthday.

This makes Konohamaru reminisce about his own childhood, where he acted in a similar manner against his grandfather for abandoning him for serving the village. While Konohamaru understands both Hiruzen and Naruto's reasoning now, he relates to Boruto very well.

5 Rasengan

Konohamaru Rasengan

Invented by none other than the legendary Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, the Rasengan is an A rank Jutsu that few shinobi know how to use. Jiraiya, one of the Sannin, used to describe it as 'The Legacy of the Fourth Hokage'. Surprisingly, Konohamaru Sarutobi is one of the six ninjas who know how to use this extremely powerful technique.

He learned it under the guidance of Naruto Uzumaki. In his time that he spent training, Konohamaru mastered this art to a level where he could take down a Path of Pain with it. He also ends up teaching the Jutsu to Boruto Uzumaki in the future.

4 Wind Release: Rasengan

While the basic Rasengan was taught to Konohamaru Sarutobi by Naruto Uzumaki, he perfected his art over time and made it even more powerful. Minato described the Rasengan as a technique that needed completion, which is why Naruto ended up creating the Rasenshuriken by adding his Wind Release chakra to it.

Akin to Naruto, Konohamaru also managed to add his nature to the Jutsu, although in his case, he didn't develop the Rasenshuriken, but a unique Wind Release: Rasengan. Although it looks similar to the regular Rasengan in appearance, it packs a much bigger punch and is capable of large-scale destruction.

3 Nature Types

Being a Jonin, Konohamaru Sarutobi has practiced the art of Ninjutsu and Taijutsu extensively over the years and earned decent mastery over these skills. When it comes to Ninjutsu, he's managed to learn three of the five main nature transformations which include Fire, Water, and Wind Release. He's also capable of using Yang Release Jutsu, which further bolsters his already strong Ninjutsu arsenal.

It is possible that he knows more than three natures, but so far he hasn't displayed the ability to use them. Interestingly, his grandfather, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was a master of all the nature types.

2 Summonings

Just like any other elite shinobi, Konohamaru Sarutobi has his own bunch of summonings. At the beginning of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations series, Konohamaru was seen summoning Gamagoro, a Toad from Mount Myoboku. Surprisingly, that's not his only summon.

Konohamaru is also able to summon a monkey. This is similar to something that is Grandfather, Hiruzen Sarutobi was able to do as well. While Hiruzen's summon was known as Monkey King: Enma, Konohamaru's summon is named Enra.

1 Sage Mode

Konohamaru Sarutobi could possibly be a user of the Toad Sage Mode as well, just like Naruto Uzumaki. While this is mere speculation, it is fascinating to note that he's signed a Toad Contract Seal. Interestingly, all the previous users of the Toad Contract Seal are users of Sage Mode, which leads fans to believe that Konohamaru could turn out to be one of them as well.

For now, much of his abilities remain under the wraps, but we hope that Boruto: Naruto Next Generations throws some more focus on his character, and possibly show us his Sage Mode in the process.
