Naruto's universe contains five great shinobi nations. Within these nations, exist several shinobi villages known as hidden villages. One of these hidden villages is Konoha, and it is the main setting for most of the story. Konoha isn't just Naruto's home -- many other powerful troublesome shinobi in the series also originate from this village.

Konoha was the most popular village right from the start of the series, and its fame only grew in the sequel series Boruto: Naruto Next Generation. A real-life Konoha village was even built to honour the village’s fictional existence. Kohonagakure, also known as Village Hidden in the Leaves or Hidden Leaf, was founded by Hashirama Senju (the "god of shinobi") and Madara Uchiha. Throughout the series, the village became the most populated village in the five great nations. It is without doubt the most village with the most powerful ninjas in the series.

The First Hokage in Naruto.

All the most powerful and feared shinobi hailed from Konoha. This could be attributed to the existence of the Will of Fire, which was passed as a spiritual heritage to all shinobi in Konoha. The Will of Fire was a life philosophy founded by Hashirama from Asura Otsutsuki’s belief that love is the key to peace. The Will of Fire served as a motivation for them to train harder and to fight for the village. Through this training, they would become strong enough to protect everything they love and therefore live in peace.

Madara and Obito Uchiha, both hailing from Konoha almost destroyed the entire Naruto universe through the Fourth Shinobi World War. In the Fourth Shinobi World War, all shinobi villages were united to form the Allied Shinobi Force which battled both Uchiha and with the help of Naruto, the reanimated past Hokages and the present Kages from the five villages they were able to achieve victory. Sasuke and Itachi, both of whom also hailed from Konoha were known to be rogue ninjas. With Itachi joining the Akatsuki to capture the tailed beasts from different villages, all other villages would come to fear him more after he murdered the Mizukage of Kirigakure (Hidden Mist Village).

On the other hand, Itachi's younger brother Sasuke caused a bigger problem after he attacked Killer Bee – eight tails jinchuriki. He further attacked the Kages from other villages and also killed Danzo. After the Fourth Shinobi War, Sasuke placed all the recently freed tailed beasts under genjutsu with just a glance, he promised to kill them and become the Hokage, leaving the world the world at his mercy.

Aside from the Uchiha, the famous Legendary Sannin – Tsunade, Jiraiya and Orochimaru – also came from Konoha. Orochimaru literally created a village known as Otogakure – Hidden Sound – for the sole purpose of collecting ninjas as an experiment for his research to know all techniques. In the early arcs of Naruto, Orochimaru posed as the Fourth Kazekage to manipulate Sunagakure (Hidden Sand) after he killed the real Kazekage. Afterwards, his attack on Konoha led to the death of the Third Hokage. He was also responsible for the death of Blue B (the previous eight tails jinchuriki) in Kumogakure after he disguised as a doctor to the jinchuriki and administered a genjutsu-inducing pill forcing the tailed beast out so he could extract some blood samples for his research.

Aside the rogue ninjas, some more kind-hearted formidable ninjas also originated from Konoha. This includes the White Fang – Sakumo Hatake. Although not much his known of him but his presence in battle alone could literally make other ninjas pee their pants. Another ninja in this category is the Yellow Flash – Minato Namikaze. He was known to have single-handedly murdered 1000 shinobi to win the war for Konoha. At some point, ninjas from other villages were told to flee once they sight him.

Konoha is definitely a happening place. Most of the legendary shinobi in the Naruto franchise originated from Konoha, and they were once known to have believed in the Will of Fire as the drive that keeps them stronger in the face of death.
