Sasuke’s skillset and an arsenal of jutsu make him one of the toughest nuts to crack in Naruto. Unlike his late-bloomer arch-rival, Sasuke’s talent blossomed from an early age. And while the former was getting busy catching up, he wasn’t lazing around either. His growth could be considered both steady and explosive at the same time.

Being the one-in-a-1000-years talent that he is, Sasuke has a significant stake in every nature type. However, he is more inclined towards lightning release and fire release. Fire aside, all his techniques involved with lightning are sure-kill techniques. Chidori, in particular, is a jutsu that he has honed since day one. Saying that it defines his early character won’t be an overstatement. But even with that in mind, there is a handful of jutsu that can act as Chidori’s replacement.

10 Would Suit: Lightning Blade

Kakashi vs Obito

Lightning Blade is the cooler version of Chidori. Rather than electrifying the enemy and stabbing them in the process, this technique penetrates the enemy and electrifies them in the process.

It’s creator and pioneer, Kakashi, sharpened it for decades. If Sasuke had picked it up, then it would’ve been a suitable alternative for Chidori. It’s a much better technique than Sasuke’s lightning coating, after all.

9 Wouldn’t: Parasitic Insects Jutsu

Naruto _ Shino Aburame using bugs

The Aburame clan’s trademark jutsu, Parasitic Insects Jutsu, won’t suit Sasuke for apparent reasons. For starters, the technique requires its user’s complete attention. Not to mention that they have to offer their body to insects from the moment of their birth.

Parasitic Insects Jutsu does not align with Sasuke’s style of fighting on top of its extreme requirements.

8 Would Suit: Kamui Lightning Blade

If Lightning Blade was the cooler version of Chidori, the Kamui Lightning Blade is the cooler version of the aforementioned technique. It takes its parent technique to a whole another level--a complete overhaul, to say.

Then again, the conditions to execute Kamui Lightning Blade are beyond harsh. It’s to a point where Kakashi could only execute it once--never to wield it again.

7 Wouldn’t: Eight Gates

At their extremes, both taijutsu and ninjutsu can lead to supremacy. That said, though, at their growing stages, the latter is far superior to the former. Those who pick taijutsu as their main only do so due to their lack of innate talent.

Sasuke obviously has plenty of talent to supplement his growth. Picking the hardest of taijutsu techniques--Eight Gates--would do him more harm than good.

6 Would Suit: Tsukuyomi

Tsukuyomi is used to crucify the target in Naruto.

Tsukuyomi is a Magnekyo Sharingan exclusive technique that only Itachi can wield. Sasuke, on the other hand, is incapable of so due to both of his eyes housing different abilities--Amataratsu and the ability to manipulate Amataratsu, respectively.

Sasuke’s genjutsu is already fearsome. Gaining Tsukuyomi will be akin to giving wings to a tiger. It will infinitely boost his genjutsu techniques.

5 Wouldn’t: Gentle Fist

Neji Hyuga from Naruto with his hand up

Gentle Fist is an art that needs to be complemented by Byakugan to take off truly. Byakugan’s ability to pinpoint chakra points accurately makes it much easier for Gentle Fist to intervene and block these chakra points. The two separate entities act as a single sure-fire style.

With that in mind, Gentle Fist without Byakugan will be another taijutsu technique. And getting Byakugan would equate to forfeiting his already formidable dojutsu. As such, this technique is unsuitable for Sasuke.

4 Would Suit: Lightning Release Chakra Mode

Chidori is offensive ninjutsu all the way around. It’s expertise solely lies in inflicting damage. Lightning Release Chakra Mode, however, is capable of much more. It’s the signature technique of the Raikage line--a testament to its potency.

The technique enhances both physical strength and speed, with the latter attribute getting the priority. At max speed, the user’s speed will transcend human limits. It’s no wonder that the 4th Raikage was uncontended in that department.

3 Wouldn’t: Multi-Size Technique

The four noble clans of Konoha each have a unique technique that makes it possible for them to stand above the masses. The Akimichi clan has Multi-Size Technique, a jutsu that specializes in weaponizing one’s body.

Usually, members of the Akimichi clan explosively increase their sizes to engage with the enemy directly. Although formidable, it stands in complete contrast with Sasuke’s specialized fighting style.

2 Would Suit: Flying Thunder God Technique

minato vs ay the raikage in Naruto

Sasuke’s most prominent attributes are his mobility and violent offense. His style revolves around overwhelming the enemy with high tier jutsu or pushing them with his advanced swordsmanship. In either case, the Flying Thunder God Technique will be of major assistance.

Although Sasuke is already capable of short-range teleportation, Flying Thunder God Technique is much more formidable. The ability to exchange places with objects within his eye-sight is not nearly as versatile as the ability granted by the Second Hokage’s masterpiece.

1 Wouldn’t: Rasengan

naruto rasengan

It’s not a matter of suiting and whatnot; it’s a matter of copyright infringement. Rasengan has Naruto all over it. It wouldn’t feel right if Sasuke suddenly starts to use it, as it is Naruto's signature move.

Then again, it’s not like Sasuke doesn’t know how to execute Rasengan. Contrarily, he can pull it off without breaking a single sweat. Whatever reason he has for not using it in battle is one that fans will 100% support.
