As the war progressed, several heroes took to the stage and made sure that their names got engraved in history. At the same time, fans also got to see some of the most epic villains rise. Here are 5 war heroes from the 4th Great Ninja War and 5 villains who captured everyone's hearts.

10 Hero: Might Guy

Might Guy Naruto

Might Guy is a shinobi from Konohagakure who was one of the major players of the Fourth Great Ninja War. He stepped up to take on Madara Uchiha in battle and gave the fans a glimpse of what he was truly capable of.

Putting his life on the line for the next generation and using all 8 Inner Gates, Guy overwhelmed Madara in combat, however, his efforts weren't enough. Due to having opened the Gates, Guy's body was injured beyond repair.

9 Villain: Third Raikage

The Third Raikage was one of the most menacing Kage to be reanimated in the war. Long ago, he died while fighting 10,000 shinobi all alone for days, and someone that powerful was, understandably, a monster in combat.

He was able to take on Naruto Uzumaki even in his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, which just goes to show that he was truly capable as a shinobi. Ultimately, he ended up falling to a simple trick of Naruto, however, he cemented his legacy as one of the strongest Kage in the War.

8 Hero: Neji Hyuga

Another Konohagakure shinobi, Neji played a decent role in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Although he didn't fight any major enemies, he did lay down his life for the sake of a better future for Naruto and Hinata.

Neji was one of the many who shockingly fell in the war and were immortalized as war heroes. His sacrifice to save Naruto also saw him freed from the curse of the Hyuga.

7 Villain: Kabuto Yakushi

Kabuto & Obito

Kabuto was one of the catalysts for the Fourth Great Ninja War. After having gained tremendous powers following Orochimaru's death, Kabuto united his forces with Obito and helped start the war.

As expected of such a big player, he was quite an interesting villain and was responsible for the majority of the reanimations. Eventually, he was taken down by Itachi Uchiha in combat, who used Izanami to trap him within a loop of illusions.

6 Hero: Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake, being the leader of Team 7, was destined for greatness in this war. As one of the leaders of the battalions, he fought some very powerful enemies, such as Haku and Zabuza, and even the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.

Later on, he also played a big role in fighting Obito Uchiha and ultimately, Kaguya Otsutsuki as well. Without Kakashi, winning the war would've been impossible, and all that earned him a spot as the Sixth Hokage of Konohagakure after the war.

5 Villain: Obito Uchiha

Obito was the person who declared the Fourth Great Ninja War on all the shinobi, posing as Madara Uchiha. His goal was to seek eternal peace by putting everyone in a dream world where everything they wished for was possible.

Obito's identity was eventually revealed in the war's climax and he went on to become the Jinchūriki of the Ten-tails. Although he was one of the biggest villains in the war, he also saved the day towards the end and was redeemed.

4 Hero: Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha entered the war quite late, however, being the strong person that he is, he immediately took the center stage. Upon joining forces with the shinobi alliance, he immediately declared that he wanted to become the Hokage of Konohagakure.

As the war proceeded, Sasuke proved to everyone why exactly he was needed in the war. Receiving half of the Sage's power, he helped fight Kaguya Otsutsuki and saved the world from its eventual doom.

3 Villain:  Madara Uchiha

Quite possibly the biggest villain in the entire series of Naruto, Madara, the Legendary Uchiha, was finally brought to life in the Fourth Great Ninja War where he wreaked havoc and managed to defeat countless shinobi all by himself.

Like Obito, he went on to become the Jinchūriki of the Ten-tails, which made him an incredibly powerful foe to take down. Unfortunately, Madara was never allowed to show fans what he was truly capable of as he was struck down to serve as a vessel for Kaguya Otsutsuki.

2 Hero: Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto Uzumaki was the biggest hero of the war and he, along with Sasuke Uchiha, took down Kaguya Otsutsuki, the biggest known threat to humanity at the point.

He also took down several other enemies, and most importantly, made Obito have a change of heart, something which proved to be crucial towards the ending stages of the war.

1 Villain: Kaguya Otsutsuki

Kaguya Otsutsuki was the final villain of the Naruto series and her strength was beyond anything that fans had seen at the point. Although she wasn't all that menacing or interesting as a character, her remarkable power made up for that to quite an extent.

Kaguya was tremendously powerful and would've gone on to take over the entire world had Naruto and Sasuke not put an end to her.
