There are quite a lot of characters in Naruto, otherwise known as the Boruto's Dad Adventure. Among the 31 different villages, there are 9 "nations". And in those, there are memorable Shinobi all the way down. Some are aiming for the top thanks to their own selfish desires, some are aiming to learn all that they can both for good and bad, and some are just trying to make their nation the best that they can.

There are all different types of people in this Shinobi world, and it's time we looked at the DnD Moral Inclinations of some of the major players. So, without further ado, here are our picks for some of the main cast.

9 Chaotic Evil: Madara Uchiha

Uchiha Madara smiling with the Sharingan

Madara might not be part of the main cast for most of the story, but from about the time Tobi shows up, he's part of the plot in a pretty big way. Madara is absolutely chaotic evil. He may have started with more noble notions, but the man he is as we see him in Shippuden is evil for evil's sake.

His plan may have been complex but boy was it not ironed-out enough like some other villains were, it was chaotic in every sense of the word. So, it makes sense that he would fill this slot, as he's the main antagonist for the end of the series and also the reason for the Third Shinobi War.

8 Chaotic Neutral: Sasuke Uchiha

We hate Sasuke. Let's just get that out of the way real quick. Still, even we can admit the guy isn't evil. Sure, he rode the line for most of Shippuden, and yes, he's killed multiple times in the past. But thanks to Naruto and crew, Sasuke comes back to the path of the "righteous".

First, he was aiming to destroy everything for the sake of the Uchiha, then he aims to protect Konoha as someone who has seen both sides. Sasuke might lean more towards the side of good now, but entirely as a character, he's always been neutral. Though his motivations never made much sense, hence the chaotic part.

7 Chaotic Good: Naruto Uzumaki

And, like stupidly simple poetry, Naruto is the chaotic counterpart to Sasuke. They've been rivals since they were kids, walked down two entirely different paths, yet ended up friends at the end of it all.

Naruto has never aimed for anything anyone could define as "evil" so he obviously gets thrown into the "good" classification. But, boy is he not organized, so Lawful just doesn't seem to fit him. No, chaotic makes a ton of sense for the seventh Hokage, as thinking of a "plan" doesn't seem like something he'd ever really do.

6 Lawful Evil: Danzo Shimura

Danzo Naruto

Danzo is a real piece of work. Apparently, he always worked towards Konoha's best interests, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a scumbag. I mean we're talking about a guy who slapped a bunch of Uchiha eyeballs into his arm as a secret weapon.

Also, the man who ordered Itachi's extinction mission against his own people. So yeah, pretty evil by any standard definition. But, again, everything he did was in order to make Konoha the most powerful village around. And, while he did break the rules behind the scenes, he did follow a very specific code, landing this classification for him.

5 Lawful Neutral: Sakura Haruno

Sakura Haruno readying a punch

Why isn't Sakura in the "Good" classification you ask? Well, mostly because she pined for Sasuke even when the dude was evil. If someone considers switching sides to the evil side just because she has the hots for the villain, that points her more towards neutral than it does towards good.

Now, for the most part, Sakura did what was best for everyone around her, but she never seemed to put Konoha first, rather her own interests or the interests of her close friends. That said, she always followed the rules.

4 Lawful Good: Kakashi Hatake

On the other hand, the guy who at first glance might seem more Neutral is actually pretty good in nature. Kakashi is the teacher for Team 7, so he taught Naruto, Sasuke, and Naruto most of what they know. He worked for the ANBU black ops, he knew Obito, and he was the 6th Hokage. Kakashi has had a long and respectable career as a Shinobi, and while he himself might not define his actions as "Good" its obvious to us the audience that Kakashi is a good dude.

He may not take the spotlight often, but fans love him enough that he's always added into any games that feature the Naruto cast.

3 Neutral Evil: Orochimaru

Orochimaru Naruto

Orochimaru is Evil. Duh, obviously they are. Orochimaru is selfish to the highest degree.

They might be one of the three Senin of Konoha, but they only got that role to further their own goals of learning all the Ninjutsu in the world. Orochimaru doesn't care who wins and who loses as long as they get to continue their research and experiments. But, they still murder and step into all sorts of different taboo, so the word evil defines them quite clearly.

2 True Neutral: Itachi Uchiha

Honestly, we almost put Itachi as the Neutral Good representation. This face-turn for one of the series longest-running antagonists was pretty cool. Turns out Itachi stopped the Uchiha uprising before it even began.

Sure, he may have murdered his entire clan, but it was all for the sake of the Konoha. Why does that make him better than Danzo? First of all, he was used as a tool and made the best of the situation, secondly, he sacrificed his life, family, and identity for his village's success and for his brother to survive. Landing him quite squarely in the Neutral classification. Itachi loves his brother, and that's all there is to it.

1 Neutral Good: Shikamaru Nara

Shikamaru Nara is one of the most intelligent characters in the show, and that's very refreshing when the protagonist is such an airhead. Frankly, he doesn't seem to have much nationalism for Konoha or much rage towards the villains of the series, he just does his job in the best and most efficient way possible. That said, underneath his apathy is the heart of a pretty great guy, and we're glad he made it to such a high position of power in Boruto, bothersome as it may seem to him.
