Tsunade is arguably the most powerful kunoichi in the Naruto universe. A direct descendant of Hashirama Senju and the Forth Hokage of the Leaf, her physical strength and healing abilities are unmatched by almost the entire cast. Despite Tsunade's tremendous gifts, there are still characters strong enough to defeat her.

Whether prevailing through a variety of underhanded techniques or due to unique jutsu, they possess the strength and tenacity to prevail in a battle with her. Through identifying them, it becomes easier to glean Tsunade's weaknesses and why she was not able to protect the Leaf better in the Forth Shinobi War.

10 Obito's Kamui Counters Tsunade's Force

Obito unmasked in Naruto Shippuden.

Considering how badly Kakashi and Minato's attacks devastated him in separate duels, Obito would not survive being punched by Tsunade. However, his kamui allows him to become intangible at any time, rendering it nearly impossible for his opponent to land a hit.

As powerful as Tsunade may be, speed has never been her expertise. Meanwhile, Obito had the reflexes to dodge many of Minato's attacks, which his sharingan further helps to compliment. Consequently, he'd be able to attack Tsunade until her healing jutsu could not sustain her.

9 Prime Orochimaru Has Too Many Tools To Counter Tsunade

Near the end of the original series, it took Jiraiya and Tsunade's combined might to bring Orochimaru down. This was in spite of the fact that the Sannin still couldn't control his arms to weave hand signs.

Should Orochimaru have full autonomy over his body, he would be able to overwhelm Tsunade with a number of pernicious jutsu. He'd only require her to be paralyzed by venom for a split second in order to deliver a fatal blow, and his Manda is much better equipped for combat than Tsunade's Katsuyu.

8 Might Guy Is Too Fast For Tsunade To Manage

Capable of cracking susanoo with her bare hands, Tsunade is more than a match for Guy in his base state. However, the more gates that Guy unlocks, the greater he tilts the battle in his favor. At seven gates, Guy could survive against and defeat Kisame.

When reaching eight, his kicks were so powerful that they could bend space itself and destroy Madara's body. Consequently, his duel with Tsunade would not be a matter of who would win – instead, the only question is to what lengths Guy must go to bring the Hokage down.

7 Hidan Would Capitalize On Tsunade's Hemophobia

Hidan Using His Curse On Asuma

Despite being one of the Akatsuki's weakest members, Hidan can exploit Tsunade's greatest weaknesses. By rending her flesh, he can capitalize on Tsunade's hemophobia, paralyzing her long enough to activate his ritual circle. Another advantage playing in Hidan's favor is that Tsunade relies on blunt attacks.

Since the villain's body is immortal, this means he'd be able to endure much more than if she attempted to sever his arms and legs. Although Tsunade's hundred healings would sustain her for a time, Hidan's deep psychological advantage is too grave to overcome.

6 Sasuke's Sharingan Provides Dozens Of Ways To Defeat Tsunade

Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden.

Sasuke's sharingan provides many advantages that Tsunade could not hope to counter. For example, combining the susanoo with an amaterrasu would work against Tsunade just as well as it does the Forth Raikage.

Although Tsunade could punch through Sasuke's defenses and harm him, doing so would engulf her body in black flames. Since the amaterrasu is active until it consumes its target, no amount of healing could save Tsunade from being completely incinerated. Her best hope would be to amputate the compromised limb before the flames spread.

5 Madara Has Already Defeated Tsunade

Madara Uchiha hovers over the battlefield with his arms crossed.

Even when supported by the other four kage, Tsunade failed to defeat or even significantly challenge Madara. By herself, attempting to fight him would be a disaster. Although Tsunade may be strong enough to crack susanoo, Madara can create so many clones that her efforts would be insignificant.

In addition to being a superior taijutsu fighter, he'd also be able to crush her with a gigantic meteor, and his truth seeking orbs would counter her regeneration with brutal efficiency. Tsunade's straightforward arsenal could not hope to challenge him.

4 Pain's Versatility Would Overwhelm Tsunade

Whether Nagato or the Six Paths, any iteration of Pain could overwhelm Tsunade. At full capacity, the Almighty Push technique was powerful enough to raze Konoha to its foundations. It follows that at point-blank impact, not even she could fully recover from it.

Although Tsunade would crush Pain's bodies even more efficiently than Jiraiya, she has nothing to prevent them from resurrecting each other while one or two of the paths keep her distracted. The summoned creatures would prove especially troublesome since a single one of them are on par with Gamabunta.

3 Naruto Is Too Evasive For Tsunade To Defeat

Naruto unpleasantly surprised

Now that Naruto has bonded fully with Kurama, it's unlikely that Tsunade could cause much damage even if she landed direct hits on him. His enormous chakra reserves and innate Uzumaki healing properties are both assets that weigh heavily in his favor.

Additionally, Naruto could clone himself so many times that it'd be virtually impossible for Tsunade to distinguish the real one. As powerful as the hundred healings jutsu might be, she could not outlast the Nine-Tails' mythic chakra stores, especially if he saved power in advance through sage mode. In the end, Tsunade would be defeated by a barrage of rasengan.

2 Onoki Can Blast A Clean Hole Through Tsunade's Body

Onoki using particle style

Onoki's particle style was one of the most lethal forces in the series. It could disintegrate anything it touches, making Tsunade's attempts at healing herself completely obsolete. The Tsuchikage also has a number of defensive measures to ensure Tsunade never harms him.

In addition to weighing her limbs down, he can cover himself in an Earthen shell that negates most damage. Further, his flight would render Tsunade's melee attacks completely irrelevant since she has no means of catching up with him.

1 Danzo's Sharingan Would Take Tsunade Off-Guard

Despite being the leader of the Foundation, Danzo is a much weaker and less skilled fighter than Tsunade. She'd be able to cause significant damage in a single punch, if not kill him outright. However, he has an edge that would swing the battle back in his favor.

By using the Izanagi, Danzo could rewrite reality as if he had never died. This would allow him to catch Tsunade off guard, stabbing her so that she could not possibly heal herself. Since the Izanagi is a secret and forbidden jutsu even among the Uchiha, there's no way that Tsunade would have heard of it before.
