Sage Mode is one of the most overpowered abilities to exist in the world of Naruto. It was introduced to us during Jiraiya's fight against the Six Paths of Pain, following which Naruto Uzumaki went on to master this power. Ever since then, Sage Mode users have popped up frequently in the series.
Although this power is hard to learn, we've seen plenty shinobi master it with enough training and in the future, there will definitely be more users that Ikemoto will introduce to us. Here are 5 Naruto characters who could learn Sage Mode in the future and 5 who just aren't strong enough to handle this power.
10 Can Learn: Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and one of the strongest from the new generation of shinobi. Being the son of Naruto, it is obvious that he draws inspiration from him to some extent. As we know, Boruto Uzumaki has already learned the Rasengan and the shadow-clone Jutsu to be more like his father.
Keeping that in mind, it isn't too hard to see that Boruto can eventually learn the Sage Mode as well. He certainly does have all the prerequisites for this technique and only needs to train hard to pull it off.
9 Isn't Worthy: Iwabee Yuino
Iwabee is a member of Konoha's Team 5 and is most likely their strongest shinobi. In the Academy, he excelled in all the ninja arts, however, he wasn't half as good at studying.
Strong as Iwabee is, he is barely even a side-character in the story. In fact, he hasn't even made an appearance in the manga so far, which is rather bizarre. For someone like him, learning the Sage Mode isn't possible since it wouldn't make any sense for his character.
8 Can Learn: Konohamaru Sarutobi
Konohamaru is the leader of Konoha's Team 7 and an incredibly powerful ninja who also aims to become the Eighth Hokage of Konohagakure. As an adult, Konohamaru can fight against some strong foes, but there are those who are stronger than him too.
To fight and defeat them, Konohamaru Sarutobi will need to learn the Sage Mode and grow stronger. Konohamaru's chakra pool is known to be massive, which means that he's definitely someone this Jutsu can apply to. We certainly do hope that he learns it and shows us what he's truly capable of.
7 Isn't Worthy: Udon
Udon is the leader of Team 5 and the former teammate of Konohamaru Sarutobi. Unlike Konohamaru and Moegi, Udon doesn't seem to be too bright. He's way too uninteresting a character and it appears as if Ikemoto isn't interested in his character progression as of yet.
So far, he's been lackluster and we feel that someone like him can't possibly learn the Sage Mode. This technique can only be learned by the most determined and bright shinobi and Udon doesn't tick either of those boxes.
6 Can Learn: Sarada Uchiha
The daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, Sarada is a prodigious Kunoichi who aims to become the Hokage in the future. Her skills are way too impressive for someone of her age and at the rate that she's progressing, it is easy to see her become a Kage in the future.
Sarada looks up to Naruto Uzumaki a lot and to get stronger, it is possible that she'll learn the Sage Mode from him. In doing so, she'll become one of the very few Uchihas to have access to the Sage Mode, Madara Uchiha being the only other.
5 Not Worthy: Metal Lee
Another member of Team 5, Metal Lee is a member of Konoha's Lee clan and he's easily one of the strongest known young shinobi we've seen so far. His skills with Taijutsu are very impressive, as expected of Rock Lee's son. Furthermore, he's also extremely skilled in Shurikenjutsu, which gives him an edge over many others.
However, Lee's style is just not suited to learning and using the Sage Mode. Although he's strong, he's doesn't have what it takes to learn the Sage Mode, which is why we doubt that we'll ever see him learn anything even remotely close to this technique.
4 Can Learn: Kawaki
Kawaki was introduced as an antagonist in the prologue for Boruto, however, he's quite a nice character in the current storyline. He lives with Naruto in the Uzumaki household and is also Naruto's very own apprentice.
Kawaki has learned quite a few things from him already and in the future, he could go on to learn the Sage Mode as well. It isn't too hard to see him master this technique, knowing how skilled he really is. With this, Kawaki will get stronger than ever before.
3 Not Worthy: Chocho Akimichi
The daughter of Choji, Chocho is quite a skilled ninja, although certainly not among the best of the next generation. Like her father, she relies on the techniques of the Akimichi clan that make her a threat to most shinobi who she comes up against.
Despite that, Chocho isn't worthy of learning the Sage Mode since her work ethic just isn't on the same level as someone like Sarada, or Boruto. That's not to say she won't grow strong. It is highly likely that she'll eventually master her own style of fighting, but we're certain that she won't learn the Sage Mode, even if she tries to.
2 Can Learn: Kashin Koji
A mysterious member of the organization known as Kara, Kashin Koji made his debut back in the Ao arc of the Boruto series. Since then, he's displayed bits of his strength and we think it's safe to say that he's easily on the strongest in the entire series.
He bears quite a lot of resemblance to Jiraiya and having said that, we think it is possible for him to be a Sage Mode user, or at least learn it at some point in the story.
1 Not Worthy: Sumire Kakei
Sumire, like Boruto, is one of the next generation ninjas who have now taken the stage. She is an impressive Kunoichi and her skill with water release Jutsu is quite impressive. She can also summon the Nue, which makes her even more dangerous.
However, Sumire has left her life as an active ninja and works in the scientific division of the village. As such, it is highly unlikely for her to ever gain this power. In fact, we're certain that all her friends will eventually pull ahead of her since she isn't active anymore.
