Naruto, like many anime, has their fair share of questionable parents making choices that ultimately endanger the lives of their children. Naruto also focuses a lot on lineage and how the decisions of ancestors can shape the destiny of their descendants. As such, we also get a lot of focus on parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents throughout the Naruto series.
With Boruto, we also get to see how the characters we've been following for years decide to raise their own children, and how they potentially mess up their children. However, we aren't here to focus on the negative aspects of parenting today. Today, we are going to focus on the best moms in the Naruto franchise.
10 Tsunade
We are starting off this list with someone who wasn't a biological mother in the series, but she was a great adoptive mother to Sakura Haruno. Sakura was often maligned as weak and helpless throughout the early series and looked down upon by her peers, especially her teammate Sasuke Uchiha.
After Tsunade came back to Konoha, she took Sakura under her wing. She helped train Sakura in medical Jutsu and taught her how to channel her chakra through her own body to gain immense physical strength. By the time of Naruto: Shippuden, Sakura was a powerful warrior who was on par with her teammates Naruto and Sasuke. Tsunade is shown to care greatly for Sakura, and that relationship is what puts Tsunade on this list.
9 Tsunami
Tsunami only made a brief appearance in the Naruto canon, but she did leave an impact. She is the mother of Inari and lives in the Land of Waves. Kakashi, Naruto, and the rest of Team 7 meet Tsunami on their mission in the Land of Waves that brings them into their fateful conflict with Zabuza and Haku.
However, the true plague in the Land of Waves is the crimelord, Gato. He and his men kidnap Tsunami, who threatens to take her own life if they do anything to hurt Inari. Later, Tsunami, Inari, and the rest of their community unite to fight back against Gato.
8 Karui
Karui is from Kumokagure, the Village Hidden in the Clouds. However, she married Choji Akimichi and therefore moved to Konoha by the time Boruto began. Karui and Choji have a daughter, Chocho.
Karui is shown to be a loving and doting mother to Chocho, and we get to see them eat out together, which also includes an eating contest between Choji and Chocho which Karui ultimately joins. Karui is a very present mother to Chocho and makes sure to encourage her during her time in Ninja Academy.
7 Ino Yamanaka
Ino Yamanaka, a peer to Naruto in her youth and teammate to Choji Akimichi and Shikamaru Nara, grew up to marry Sai and have a son, Inojin. Like Ino, Inojin joins the new Ino-Shika-Cho team as has been the tradition for the three families for generations.
Ino encourages her son through shinobi training and even watches over him when he loses the ability to perform one of his more powerful Jutsu. We get to see Ino and Inojin run Yamanaka Flowers together, and we watch Ino call reinforcements for Inojin when Shikadai was taken hostage by Amado, meaning her motherly tendencies extend beyond blood relations.
6 Mikoto Uchiha
Mikoto Uchiha was the mother of Itachi and Sasuke Uchiha. We don't get to see a lot of her, but we do see that she was also a very caring mother Sasuke and Itachi. She checks up on them after Kurama attacks Konoha.
She is also very understanding of Itachi when he, as an Anbu, is ordered to kill the Uchiha Clan for their insurrection against Konoha. She even comforts her son as he takes her life.
5 Kushina Uzumaki
Kushina was the mother of Naruto Uzumaki and the wife of Minato Namikaze, also known as the Fourth Hokage. She was made the Jinchuuriki that held Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon. When she gave birth to Naruto, Kurama escaped with the help of Obito Uchiha.
Minato protected the newborn Naruto during this ordeal and saved him from Obito. Minato offered herself to be the vessel of Kurama again, knowing it would kill her. However, Minato chose instead to place it inside his son, Naruto, for some reason. The sealing Jutsu is performed, and Minato and Kushina sacrificed themselves to make sure the ritual was completed.
4 Kurenai Yuhi
Kurenai was the Jonin teacher of Shino Aburame, Kiba Inuzuka, and Hinata Hyuga. She had a relationship with fellow Jonin, Asuma Sarutobi. Kurenai had Asuma's daughter, but he died before Kurenai gave birth.
The girl was named Mirai. We get to see Kurenai care for Mirai as she grew older, and she even had Tenten send supplies to Mirai during a mission.
3 Temari
Temari, teammate and sister to Gaara and Kankuro, is from the Village Hidden in the Sand. She develops a relationship with Shikamaru Nara, and the two have Shikadai.
She is shown to be a stern yet loving mother, and she has to make up for Shikamaru's laid-back nature in parenting Shikadai. She punishes him when needed, but she also helps him train for the Chunin Exams. We also get to see her personally save Shikadai from one of Urashiki's puppets.
2 Hinata Hyuga
Hinata Hyuga married Naruto Uzumaki and had two kids with him, Boruto and Himawari. Hinata is a very caring mother for her children, often staying home to watch over them while Naruto performs his duties as the Seventh Hokage.
She also helps train her kids to become skilled shinobi and is exceptionally patient with the rebellious Boruto.
1 Sakura Haruno
Sakura ultimately ended up with Sasuke and had a daughter with him, which they named Sarada. However, Sasuke is a bit of a dead-beat dad who is often away from Konoha, meaning that Sakura has to raise Sarada alone. Sakura is a very caring mother for Sarada and tries to make up for the fact that Sasuke is away so often, especially when he takes a special interest in Boruto.
Like the others, she also helps her daughter in her shinobi training and does everything she can to make sure Sarada doesn't get hurt. Sakura puts in that extra bit of effort and love into everything she does for Sarada, and that puts her at the top of this list.
