Madara was the main antagonist of the Naruto universe and the leader of the Uchiha clan. A legend of his own era, he has only become stronger after being resurrected through the forbidden power of the edo tensei.

By the conclusion of the series, not even Team Seven could stop him in spite of their best collaborative efforts. Madara's might is also not exclusive to his own universe, and it becomes easier to estimate his power and the true depths of what he is capable of by identifying the characters from different franchises he could defeat.

10 Edward Elric's Alchemy Cannot Hope To Thwart Madara (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Edward Elric smiling in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Edward Elric was considered to be a prodigy in the alchemist community. His bladed arm was a particularly deadly weapon since it could assume whatever shape he liked.

Despite having experience against the homunculus, Edward could not hope to overcome the regenerative properties behind Madara's body. Moreover, since he cannot bend energy itself, his alchemy is useless against the impregnable susanoo. In contrast, Madara would easily be able to strike Edward down using taijutsu alone.

9 Escanor's Sunshine Is Ineffective Against Madara's Ten-Tails Defenses (Seven Deadly Sins)

Escanor smiling and holding axe

Escanor's "Sunshine" was an ability that grew increasingly powerful depending on the time of day. It allowed him to defeat Estarossa, detain Meliodas, and even contend with the Demon King at full capacity.

However, Madara's condition as the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki renders him immune to ninjutsu. Since Escanor's attacks strongly resemble fire style, he'd be forced to rely on physical strength in order to stand a chance. Despite the Lion Sin's incredible durability, Madara's truth-seeking orbs are able to bypass his defenses and kill him instantly.

8 Meruem Doesn't Have The Speed Or Strength To Match Madara's (Hunter X Hunter)

Meruem tries to negotiate

Meruem is only strong when contrasted against characters from his series. Although he is able to kill dozens of people in the blink of an eye and survive a nuclear explosion, he lacks the raw speed and strength necessary to overcome Madara.

His destructive prowess barely exceeded a large crypt, whereas his opponent razed entire valleys. It stands to reason that Madara could simply defeat him from the safety of his susanoo, especially if he were able to maintain it using Hashirama's boundless reserves of chakra.

7 Coyote Starrk Isn't Fast Enough To Defeat Madara (Bleach)

Coyote Starrk staring ahead in Bleach.

Coyote Starrk was regarded as the fastest and strongest member of the Espada. His pistols could shoot devastating ceros at an alarming rate, and he emitted enough spiritual pressure to kill almost everything around him simply by sharing his presence.

The only thing fast enough to slip through his notice was Might Guy's Eight Gates, which could warp space itself. Madara would ultimately defeat Starrk since he is able to anticipate his every move.

6 Whitebeard's Durability Wouldn't Hold Up Against Madara (One Piece)

Whitebeard holds Murakumogiri as he towers over Luffy (One Piece).

As a combatant, Whitebeard's greatest assets were his strength and durability. When fully harnessing his devil fruit, he could shake Marineford to its very foundations.

Unfortunately for the Emperor, Madara's truth-seeking orbs are an excellent counter to his otherwise resilient body. Additionally, the Ten-Tails' protection against ninjutsu would significantly reduce Whitebeard's offensive potential. Though still powerful enough to pose a threat with brute strength and armament Haki, Whitebeard's otherwise-limited number of abilities would make him easy to predict, counter, and defeat.

5 DIO's Time-Stopping Stand Wouldn't Make A Difference (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

DIO uses his stand to stop time

DIO's "The World" Stand allowed him to freeze time from between five to eight seconds, depending on if he was empowered by Joestar blood. Even if he capitalized on his window as much as possible to hurt Madara, it wouldn't make a difference.

RELATED: Naruto: Might Guy's 5 Greatest Strengths (& His 5 Worst Weaknesses)Since the vampire's greatest feat of strength was throwing a massive road roller, it's unlikely that he'd have enough striking power to kill Madara before his time expired. Should DIO manage to wound him, the shinobi's naturally rejuvenating body would allow him to reenter the fight, activate his susanoo, and win comfortably.

4 Madara Could Defeat Eren's Founding Titan With A Single Jutsu (Attack On Titan)

Eren's Founding Titan makes landfall in the Rumbling in Attack on Titan.

While Eren Yeager's Founding Titan may have been potent enough to destroy most of the world, he's still surprisingly vulnerable to attack. Conventional explosives were enough to destroy his nape, sending his skeletal head plummeting to the ground.

Considering that Madara was able to summon two gigantic meteors lethal enough to wipe out the Allied Shinobi Forces, he'd be able to destroy Eren's entire head before the wall titans could assist him. Given the meteors' destructive impact, there'd be nothing left of his human body to escape into a colossal titan.

3 All Might Lacks The Versatility To Challenge Madara (My Hero Academia)

All Might in My Hero Academia.

All Might may have the tools to physically contend with Madara, but he would be incapable of adapting to different situations. For example, there'd be no way for the hero to reasonably win if Madara cloned his susanoo and attacked from different directions.

Additionally, All Might is prone to collapsing from overexertion, whereas Madara's chakra reserves are almost limitless. Even if he manages to survive his opponent's attacks, the Symbol of Peace would inevitably lose a battle of attrition.

2 Madara Can Counter Alucard's Weakness To Illusions (Hellsing)

Alucard from Hellsing sneering at the camera.

As the Hellsing Organization's secret weapon, few things can harm Alucard. He proved virtually immune to physical damage and even fared exceptionally well against holy weapons (which the Iscariots had hoped would counter his demonic properties).

However, Madara is the leader of the Uchiha, a clan renowned for its proficiency in genjutsu. Should he trap the vampire in an illusion like Schrodinger did near the end of the series, Alucard would be rendered helpless and at his opponent's mercy. From there, Madara can explore ways to ensure that Alucard doesn't stand up again.

1 Madara Has Surpassed Hashirama Since Their Last Battle (Naruto)

Hashirama's Sage Mode in Naruto.

Hashirama has defeated Madara twice in the past. Whether by himself or with Kurama's assistance, it seemed as though the Uchiha would bow to his wishes.

However, after being reborn, this power dynamic changed dramatically. Not only did Madara unlock the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki form, but he also stole the rinnegan and even Hashirama's own chakra. Consequently, Hashirama was no longer able to provide a serious challenge despite being one of the most powerful ninja that Konoha ever produced. It's likely he would have been humiliated if not for Zetsu's sudden betrayal.
