Paramount Pictures has lined up "Napoleon Dynamite" director Jared Hess to helm "NickToons," an animated movie featuring some of Nickelodeon's signature characters.

Deadline characterizes the film as "Paramount’s answer to 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit,'" bringing together a who's who of characters from such shows as "Rugrats," "Rocko's Modern Life," "The Angry Beavers" and "Ren & Stimpy" for a single original narrative. Nickelodeon has vast library, so there are plenty of series to choose from.

Hess will also write the film with his wife and longtime collaborator Jarusha Hess, based on an idea by Ali Mendes of producer Disruption Entertainment.
