WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Naomi Season 1, Episode 8, "Fellowship of the Disc," which aired Tuesday, March 22 on The CW.

Naomi's title character has been through quite a lot as she pieced together her alien heritage in Port Oswego. Her parents, Greg and Jennifer, have been trying their best to keep her secret under wraps. However, that hasn't been easy with Commander Steel and the army suspecting something's up with the McDuffies after discovering footage of them tampering with military evidence.

To make things even more difficult, Naomi's mentors Dee and Zumbado just can't see eye to eye, The former wants a more peaceful, diplomatic training a la Marvel's Professor X, while the latter wants something more aggressive and militant akin to Magneto. Their drama has been adding unnecessary stress to Naomi's life. Luckily, these teachers finally decided to bury the hatchet -- but it was in the most ridiculous way possible.

Zumbado is watching over Naomi

The storyline began when Zumbado approached Dee, wanting to improve Naomi's style of fighting. In addition to Dr. Bell's STAR Labs seeking to kidnap the teen, he expected there'd be bounty hunters like Jaeger coming over from Earth-29 now that her powers were in full bloom. From the war he fought in, he can tell Brutus is amping up the chase, and he doesn't want Naomi to fall into the tyrant's hands after Brutus killed Zumbado's previous allies -- including Naomi's biological parents.

Dee understood that, but the Thanagarian urged patience. He wanted Naomi to temper her skill and understand that she couldn't let her emotions get the best of her in battle -- a dig that Zumbado took personally because he's exactly that kind of warrior. Naomi has set up the same dynamic between the two that Magneto and Charles Xavier had: the former is eager for powered beings to be weapons of mass destruction, while the latter wants them to be calculating and calm.

Their latest disagreement culminated in an outlandish plot twist. The immature, childish Zumbado challenged Dee to a fight at the junkyard, where he used his telekinetic powers to chuck almost all the metal around at a hesitant Dee (perhaps playing up the Magneto comparison). Dee kept his cool, honored his species' code and won the fight, making it clear that the duo needed to work together if they really wanted to keep Naomi safe.

However, while Zumbado may have agreed for the time being, that doesn't mean he'll always fall in line -- or that Dee even believes he's on the same side. Zumbado's idea for them to fight was rash, impulsive and more proof that he can't be trusted. Fans will remember that Akira, another of Zumbado's former friends, told Naomi that while he has good intentions, he always goes overboard. Dee will still have to keep a close eye on him even though they're apparently allies.

Zumbado may see Naomi like a daughter, but he's also a liability that might end up endangering them all more than anything else. From a show point of view, while the fight between Zumbado and Dee may have been entertaining, it was also a pretty outlandish way of getting the two characters on the same side. What will Naomi think if she finds out her two mentors almost came to blows?

Naomi airs on The CW on Tuesdays at 9 pm ET/PT.
