Ahead of Nancy Drew's October premiere, The CW released a new piece of key art that teases the mystery in her sleepy seaside town. The poster shows a full look at the title character's face that fades into a lighthouse setting at the very top.

In the series, Nancy and her friends witness a murder, leading her to begin looking into a ghost story involving a spectral woman, with more sinister clues surfacing as the case deepens.

Created as a pulp novel character by Edward Stratemeyer, the upcoming television adaptation is developed by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Noga Landau. While the cast for the pilot had included Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Nancy's father Carson, the role has since been recast with Scott Wolf.

Principal photography on the first season began last month in Vancouver, with the Canadian coastline and cliffs featuring prominently in the latest trailer. Judging by the presence of the ghost seemingly stalking Nancy, the local ghost story may have a terrifying truth to it.

Nancy Drew premieres on October 9 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The series stars Kennedy McMann as Nancy Drew, Tunji Kasim, Maddison Jaizani, Scott Wolf, Riley Smith and Alex Saxon.
