Mythbusters' Adam Savage is an old hand at model building, having previously built a LEGO model of the Spinner car from Blade Runner and restored a model Batwing from Tim Burton's BatmanNow, he has built his first Gundam.

In a video posted to the Adam Savage's Tested YouTube channel, Savage and the rest of the Tested team walk viewers through the process of putting together the PERFECT GRADE UNLEASHED RX-78-2 GUNDAM model kit. They praise the model throughout the video, complimenting the design of the interior mechanical frame and the aesthetics of the iconic armor. According to the description, Savage was "stunned by the detail of the model's parts and the precision of the pieces that satisfyingly snap-fit together!"

The RX-78-2 mobile suit is arguably the most recognizable Gundam in the entire franchise; it is often described as the titular giant robot and featured prominently on the poster for the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime. The mobile suit also plays a key narrative role in the franchise's latest live-action series, Gundam Build Real.

Moreover, this build is not Savage's first venture into the world of anime. In other videos on the channel, he constructs a cosplay of Totoro and explores props from the live-action remake of Ghost in the Shell.

Various Gundam models and other collectibles can be purchased on the Premium Bandai website.
