WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 1, Episode 4, "A Whisper, Not a Shout," streaming now on Disney+.

The successful adaptation of the young adult book series The Mysterious Benedict Society has proven to be a compelling and quirky family show. Coupled with its colorful aesthetic and clever puzzles, however, is an underlying sense of unease as the protagonists fight against the Emergency. Two members of the Society get closer to the source of the Emergency than ever before in a new clip from the soon to be released episode.

The Mysterious Benedict Society follows four abandoned children on a mission to save the world. After passing a series of unconventional and grueling tests, Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance have joined forces to help Mr. Benedict uncover the truth behind the insidious Emergency that's causing such gloom and despair around the country. After tracing the origin of a mysterious signal to the island of the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, the Society enrolls in the school to dive deeper into the source of the mystery. At the end of the most recent episode, Reynie and Sticky are promoted to the elite group of Messengers at the Institute, gaining them more access to the signal's source, while Kate is almost kicked out.

In an exclusive clip from Episode 5, Sticky and Reynie are fitted for their official Messenger outfits. Their matching pants, shirts and vests provide a uniform that separates them as some of the best students at the Institute. While the new garb is in keeping with the colorful, Wes Anderson-esque attire of the rest of the show, the lack of their individual personalities represents a huge change for the characters -- and hints at some of the danger of conformity while climbing the ranks at the Institute.

The end of the clip brings the Institute's headmaster L.D. Curtain into Reynie and Sticky's uniform fitting, explaining not only the luxury of the suits but also how each child earned theirs. While Reynie says he's confident and seems nonplussed by his promotion to Messenger, Sticky hesitates. Mr. Curtain gives Sticky a pep talk, explaining how he earned his place among the Messengers even after he helped Kate cheat on a test in the previous episode.
