WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 3, Episode 10 of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, “Gallantly, Shizuka Hiratsuka Moves Forward,” now streaming on Crunchyroll.

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax’s prom is finally underway, and while things go off without a hitch, several key events that transpire during and after the event raise some interesting questions as the series draws to a close.

The night of the prom is finally at hand, and as the senior students get ready to have one final farewell Iroha, Yukino and the rest of the preparation committee quickly go to work to finalize their preparations for the event. Yukino takes over the general responsibilities while Yui is assigned to the reception desk, and Iroha manages the sound system with Hachiman serving as her assistant for when things get too busy.

As the night goes on, Iroha -- noticing Hachiman conversing with Yukino over their headsets at the PA system -- comments on how Hachiman no longer has trouble communicating with her. Iroha then offers Hachiman, Yui and Yukino a position in the Student Council, potentially solving the problems between them as a group. Hachiman sees this as yet another temporary solution, but acknowledges Iroha’s kindness, thanking her nonetheless.

As the prom progresses Hachiman bumps into Yui, who is on break from her duties at the front desk. Yui asks Hachiman to dance and the two join the seniors during one of the slow dances. As the dance goes on, both Yui and Hachiman tell the other that they haven’t yet decided on a wish. But as the prom comes to a close, Yukino takes a moment to thank Hachiman for his help while the two are alone, reminding him of his promise to grant Yui’s wish.

After the prom, everyone gathers in the conference for Shizuka’s farewell party. As the festivities go on, Yukino’s mother, as well as Haruno, join the party. Mrs. Yukinoshita congratulates Yukino on a job well done, and Yukino tells her of her ambitions to eventually take over her father’s job. While her mother doesn’t disapprove, she doesn’t approve either -- something Haruno brings to Hachiman’s attention later on.

As the farewell party dwindles, only Hachiman, Yui, Yukino and Haruno are left in the room. So, Haruno once again provokes the group, voicing her displeasure in how things have ended between the three of them before leaving.

After she leaves, Yui and Yukino seem to accept that the Service Club -- and the three members’ relationship with one another -- is over. Hachiman struggles with the idea and hastily leaves once the two turn their attention to him. Yukino catches up to him and thanks him for his help, but can’t let him go after she’s done. After some hesitation, Hachiman pries her hand off his sleeve and heads towards the school entrance where he meets Haruno once again.

Haruno once again chastises him, telling him that Yukino’s wish is one of compensation while once again criticizing the way that the three have handled things. Before she leaves, Haruno once again reminds Hachiman that he, like her, can’t get drunk, and questions if anything is genuine.

Shizuka sees Hachiman outside and, seeing that he’s distraught, offers to bring him home. On their way, she stops by a batting cage, and after doing some swinging sits down with her student. They talk about what Haruno told him. Shizuka offers Hachiman one final lesson before she leaves Sobu.
