WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 12 of My Next Life as a Villainess, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Katarina and her loyal friends rescued her foster brother Keith from the clutches of Thomas Coleman and the mysterious dark magic girl, and once Keith recovered, classes at the Magic Academy resumed. Now in My Next Life as a Villainess' Season 2 finale, Katarina and the gang prepare to graduate, and everyone is in a festive mood.

Prince Geordo Stuart made romantic overtures to Katarina during the rescue mission to reassert himself as her loving fiance, while Keith has made progress of his own in aiming to win her heart. Katrina has issues other than her harem, however; just as Fortune Lover's story ends, a massive shift suddenly rocks her world -- complete with a whole new set of villainess doom flags.

The Season 2 finale kicks off with Katarina and friends gathered at the Magic Academy graduation party, while Susanna Randall and her fiance Jeffrey discuss the role of dark magic and the sinister Dieke family in this world. Katarina has faced the Diekes once before in Villainess, when Raphael Walt -- disguised as Sirius Dieke -- captured her close friend Maria. Katarina remains unaware of the family's full threat, but Susann and Jeffrey know they wield serious power, a storyline that may appear in future Fortune Lover stories. Maria and Keith have both been rescued from dark magic, but the overarching threat remains.

At the party, Katarina's many friends and admirers cluster around her, from the adoring Mary Hunt to Sophia Ascart and even Ginger and Frey, and their behavior proves yet again that My Next Life as a Villainess' harem race has no clear winner. Katarina may live in an otome game but her love life remains open-ended, since she shares her heart equally with everyone around her. Altogether, it promises plenty more harem shenanigans in future installments. In fact, it seems to have reached ever-greater heights with Ginger's inclusion.

Later that night, Katarina dreams of her old friend Acchan, who steps into her bedroom and loads a video game. It's not Fortune Lover, but the game's new sequel -- Fortune Lover II. Acchan cannot hear or see her isekai otome friend -- instead, she comments to herself that the character Katarina Claes is still around even after the first game's events, and is a worse bully to Maria than ever. In the game, Maria joins the Magic Department alongside four potential love interests, including Sora. Katarina suddenly wakes, reassuring herself that her doom flags are all gone. That was just a harmless dream... or was it?

Katarina and Maria later visit the Department of Magic as its newest staff members, where Raphael and Sora introduce the girls to their seniors, Cyrus Lanchester and Dewey Percy. Katarina recognizes these boys from her brief preview of Fortune Lover II, proving that the sequel has officially begun and the poor protagonist faces a brand new set of doom flags. If she fails, she may face a fate even worse than exile this time, but perhaps this otome struggle will see a conclusion in the upcoming My Next Life as a Villainess feature movie.
